Nice to meet you, marsphuchung !
I stayed in HCMC for 6 months before. And I traveled up to DA NANG. I never been to HANOI before. Where do you stay ? Hanoi ? Can you say something about your hometown ? Thank you.

I live in Hue city, nearby Danang. You can go to Vietnam the second times and visit Hue city. I believe you are not disappointed.
Hue is an ancient city with many cultural places, such as: the Hue citadel, Nguyen's Royal tombs, ...
Besides, Hue has a lot of beauty-spot, such as Huong River, Ngu Binh Mountain, Vong Canh Hill .....

eventhough we are asians, but i have a slightest idea about Vietnam. I am an Indian. I would like to know what type of country is Vietnam?
For our country it is a secular state and democratic state.

Our country is also democratic state so our economic has a good condition to develop very impressed in recent year. You can see it in the comment above.

It's nice to meet you. I'm in the U.S. and don't know much about your country other than the war. Are you having difficulties with you economy like many of us around the world are or are things okay there?

Nice to meet you.
Many people only know about Vietnam with the war in past. they think after the war, Vietnam is very poor and having an economic backwardness but it's not true.
Our economic has been developed quickly for 10 years. For example, in 2006, average speed of growth is 8.4% and last year, it's 8.1%. Vietnamese's quality of life is improved a lot.
Besides, we have many places to visit. We have 4 beaty-spot which is recognized the world heritage: Halong bay, Phongnha cave, Hue citadel, Myson holy land.
You can visit Vietnam to see the things I have written.
