no currently india is not in a position to win the world cup.

Lets wake up from some wild dreams. India has remote chance of making it, unless something dramatically changes over the next six months. There seems to be only one winner, the Australians. They are winning each & everything even if they don't have their best players around. With Australia so dominant & commanding, the fight is only to decide the second place. The second place might go to either West Indies or South Africa. West Indies has the home advantage and they are playing reasonably well as a team recently. If they can overcome their unpredictable failures from winning positions, they should be doing very well. South Africa has a very good pace attack. If their batting can support the bowlers, they can challenge any team.
