I can't believe there are people stupid enough to vote for Obama.

Now that I have your attention I want you to tell me what it is Obama stands for. Why would anyone vote for this man. Do you know what he stands for, I don't, and i don't think anyone else does either.

I am sick and tired of the Republican agenda. I'm sick of ignorant, fear based, ultra conservatives, telling me what to do, how to think, and lying to promote their agenda. In my opinion, McCain will be a miniBush, so Obama it is.

Thats really a general blanket statement. I am pretty much a moderate. Right in the middle. I like some things that both parties stand for. What I do not tolerate is a fear based agenda where lies are the basis for decisions made, the public being kept under a hood, and basically a pres who helps his buddies line their pockets while sounding less educated than half the population of the country.

Interesting post since the things you don't like, being told what to do, happen more with the Dems who want government to have more control.

Okay, what you are saying is you are voting for Obama becuase you hate Bush. I realy hopre there is more to it than that. You missed the question. Why? What issues has Obama taken a stance on that you agree with. What is it about Obama that makes you think he will be a good commander for our country. I hope there is more to it than just a hate for another. This is an open discussion. Contribute something meaningful. Don't just take a stance because you believe it is contrary to mine. Justify it.

Does it matter? Our votes don't matter. Besides the president doesn't have much power anyway.

I think that you have been led to belive your vote doesn't matter, It does. We are all accountable for those we put in office. I want to know what they stand for. The president has a lot of power. Just ask those who are irate with Bush for the Iraq war. Presidents can start wars for one, they also appoint judges who shape law. There power stretches into your daily life more than you may imagine. I don't care who you vote for. My point is that you should vote on substance. You should make an informed choice and this far Obama has offered me nothing but feel good rhetoric. I want to know what he stands for.

No, our votes don't count Gore won the popular vote but didn't win. The electorial college or whatevers vote matters. Bush doesn't have power, he can make proposuals (sp?) THAT IS ALL. People in congress have to vote on the proposual (sp?). The president cannot just take over, this is not a totalitation society.

I dont' think he stands for anything, he talks out of both sides of his mouth, and I hope there is a lot more out there who wonders too, causeif he gets elected we in big trouble. I watch Fox new channel tonight and they was saying after an interview he done that he has no understanding about how to deal with the problems over seas, that he wants to talk it out with the ones that has bombed us to go back to the way it was on Sept 10, day before 911, they said on Hanaby and combs that he will get us another 911 soon after he gets in, he is not capable with dealing with our terriorst threats. He has too many shady friends and they said he was being backed by Hamas, the very ones that are killing our troops in Iraq, now why would they back him, they can't vote, so what is in it for them, that he is a puppet for the rest in congress to pull the strings on, that he has no idea about foreign affairs and he will let them into our country with out a problem. Let's just pray that america wakes up by the time the elections come about.

Moon, the man is a 1 term senator. How much hisotry could he have. how many votes could he have cast. He is a neophyte and he has no substance. There is nothing anyone could say to change your mind because you are not using your mind to decide this. You are caught up in the pomp and circumstance of the great hop and chage crap he preaches at his speaches. There is, thus far, no proof that he has a clue what he is doing or of what he plans to do in the future. Step back and take a breath. Look seriously at the links you gave me to read. You READ them. I don't think you have or you would clearly see what I'm talking about.

lol. Its cool man. I certainly dont have time to research that. If it is the governments fault that gas prices are the way they are, then that gives me all the more reason to vote against a republican agenda. Vote for Obama!!!! We need change!!!!!

You are right. I am not sure what people want Obama to say to make them confident in his ability to be president, but the truth is a person can say anything and make all kind or promises. The proof is in what they do, not what they say. We won't know what he will do until he does it. I'm willing to give him a chance. Look at some of the other guys we have given an opportunity. The years with George have been a disaster, but we wouldn't have ever known that if we had not allowed him to cheat his way into the White House. Oops did I say that. :-) I meant voted him in.

Thats the thing. Its America. I can vote for whatever reason I want. And dislike for Bush is as good a reason as any. But from the speeches I've heard from Obama, I like that his focus will be the common folk, like me. People who struggle with gas prices and insurance prices. To me its embarrassing that every other country out there thinks we are a joke. We have a guy in office who can barely speak. I think that Obama will be able to bridge the gaps in foreign policy. Its everybody's world. We should be partners. Not have everybody hate us. You haven't really given a good reason why you don't like Obama. Elaborate please.

Oh I absolutely disagree. The devil you know is not better than the devil you dont. I would actually not be too opposed to McCain as I believe he is more moderate than Bush. One issue Obama has said in speeches that I have heard is reducing the tax loopholes for big businesses. He has said that Exxon has had the biggest profits in their history this year. That coming on the heels of 4 dollar a gallon gas. Also he has stated that we need to bring our troops home. Saving money on the war will allow him to implement a plan to make sure that every child is covered with health insurance.

Well if what you say is true than i cannot vote for obama. he is a socialist. What he fails to say is that the government is the reason gas is four dollars a gallon. Not exxon. Gas companies average an 8% profit margin. Look around. That means they make an average of .32 per gallon. The federal govenment has about a .28 per gallon tax on gas. Isn't funny, Exxon only makes .04 more per gallon on gas then the federal government. I don't hear anyone complainint that the federal govenment is guilty of making record profits. If you don't believe my figures, go check it out yourself. Do the research. prove me wrong. For me it is and has always been about the debate. i loved to be challenged becuase ot makes me work to confirm and reinforce my ideals. Good luck/

I forgot to mention that this tax on gas is in addition to the tax on thier profits. On on everything else the government taxes. The govenment should concern themselves less with adding new taxes and more with spending more efficiently. there is not room here to cover government waste. I am not singling out democrats on this. Bush is as liberal as any democrat when it comes to fiscal issues.

Amen Tizzo, You have hit the nail on the head. Emotion is rarely a good basis for any decision. I am terrified however by the prospect of more limits and taxes on business to include Obama's minimum wage proposal. I have takent the time to read his platform from his web site and it drove me mad. It is socialism barely clothed in a bikini. Its as if most of the country has no understanding of how business and the economy work. I am glad to see at least someone out there gets it. Good post.

Well, I usually welcome new members to myLot before saying anything else but you sure did get my attention, robehren! This is a forum for discussions so I have to ask you if this is how you usually start discussions in your "offline" life. Starting out by calling people names isn't exactly getting off on the right foot here on myLot or anywhere else for that matter. I'll give you an answer to your question but I wouldn't count on a whole lot of responses with the attitude you're presenting. First impressions can mean a great deal! Of course, chances are you've come across some of the "Obamattackers" here and have come to the conclusion that this is the accepted behavior here on myLot. I'm NOT stupid but I did vote for Obama in my state's primary and intend to do so again in November. If you don't know what he stands for that's your fault, not mine and not his. There is as much information available online about the issues and where each of the candidates stand on them and what their respective histories are in relation to them as there are false rumors and smear campaigns, you just have to make a bit more of an effort to find them. Annie, We've been over this time and time again; the only information out there mirrors the democratic party and Hillary Clinton almost word for word! America (at least the one who are not mesmerized by this politician)is waiting for him to separate himself from the group and at least make some intended policiy statements even if they are wrong! So far, absolutely no substance!

Moon, your first link didn't lead anywhere but I took it upon myself to find Obama's page. I read some of his stances and I found that they are just as I had said. Nothing of real substance. I couldn't find thins that told me any details about what he plans to do. He says he's going to lower taxes, but does not say how he plans to cover the difference. Is he going to raise taxes on someone else or cut government spending. he say's he is going to fix NAFTA, but waht does that mean. That statement has no meaning unless he tells me what is wrong with it. Is he going to fix it by closing the borders and deporting the illegals here or bu making the US Mexico and Canada one north amercia country. You Obama supporters are so emotional about this guy you can not be objective. YOu have not read what I posted above or you would not have writen what you did. I could show you proof that Obama murdered babies and you would still vote for him beacause your a liberal. You think with your emotions and not your brain. Wake up and stop following the heard. Don't hurry to be the first lemming over the cliff.

This is true, Obama has been very slick so far and has not gone out on any limbs. I do believe that, as we get closer to the election, he will reveal more about what his views and actual plans are. He has to...so far it's little more than change...change...change....

I agree with you. I want the kid gloves to come off and for the liberal media to hold his feet to the fire. Someone please force the guy to take a definative stance on the topics. I hold the same true for McCain. if we let these guys get into office without even knowing what they stand for then we are the idiots and not them. Our government has gotten to the point where they take us for granted. Repiblicans will vote republican and democrats will vote democrat. I say we kick them in the pants and make them accountable. This starts in the electorial process by making them take a side in issues and not ride the fence.
