Everything from my desktop is gone! There is no tool bar on the bottom of the screen. Where did it go and how do I get it back? I am afraid to close this window because I dont know where it will go or how to get it back. I cant do a restart because the start button is not there! Please help me fast.

Dont know what you run but I run Macintosh computers.. Normally that would mean your memory is full and you need to restart your computer which if you have too (only if you need too) you can always pull the plug. Course maybe some other computer techs could answer this better for you ..

Sounds like it could be a virus. you may need to shut down and find out what is going on. If it is not a virus, maybe you can do a recovery. Good luck

OOps, I see I am too late. Thank goodness your problem is solved and it was nothing serious. How scary that must have been for you!

In this window, you can go to viewon your page here and then go to toolbars from the drop down menu. You should be able to fix the toolbar there. I have a checkmark by mine to lock the toolbars. If that does not work, you can try to restart your computer and see if they appear again. I hope this works.

Seems like you got the responses, but if explorer was lost, toolbars aren't showing up and you get a blank looking desktop, you may have to reset the computer. You can try windows button or ctrl+alt+del to get to task manager. A shut down command can be found there. Its possible explorer.exe became corrupted or was shut down. This could happen via virus, or perhaps the item was damaged via processing (it happens). Hopefully its nothing serious, but you'd probably want to do antivirus and antimalware scans. If the problem continues a system restore to a prior date may fix it. Other options include doing a repair of XP, but that should be a next to last resort.
