Are you afraid of the Dark?? What does dark mean to you ??

As a child, yes i was afraid of the dark. I always used to feel as if something is lurking in the dark and i cannot see it but it is there. Non the less i liked to sleep in perfect darkness. Now since i have a child, i like to use the night bulb, so i can look after by when he needs me.
Now it entirely depends on you how you see darkness. Do you consider "dark" as a room with no light on/outdoors with no lights/night time OR as something evil. As a child i was scared of the night coz i thought that spirits roam the earth at night. That was the only thing that use to give me the creeps. For some darkness gives them company in their solitude! To some darkness gives peace too. What does darkness mean to you? Are you afraid of the dark?

I used to be, feeling as you did that something was waiting to get me. I was afraid to get out of bed at night because something might grab my feet from under the bed!
I don't mind it now, for some reason. I was afraid of the dark right up till I moved back to the state I was born in. Now I have no fear, it's strange.

I used to exactly have the same feeling of something grabbing my feet and pulling me under the bed. When i think of thing i am scared at times but when i am in the situation i am no longer scared of anything. I wont say that i have no fear, i get scared when i watch true life haunted stories like the ones they show in discovery channel. I even used to feel that hands were going to come out of the bed as i lay there and throttle me.

I am not afraid of the dark now that I am an adult.. When I was little I was afraid of the long dark hallway that you had to go down to go to the bathroom I would make my parents watch me walk all the way down there until I had the light on and then I would run all the way back.

I read all the post for this discussion and have realised that we all have similar fears when we are young. Even i was scared to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and i used to wake my mom for her to wtch me go to the bathroom and come back! I am sure even you had the same feeling of somebody following you down the hallway, right? Cause that was what i felt when i walled down the hallway alone at night.

I am afraid of darkness very much. I guess it is for several reasons: first, when I was a little child, once there was a mouse climb on my foot in dark, and I always am afraid of dark; Second, my grandma used to tell me some horrified stories about darkness to make me sleep, and when I grow up, I started to read scary stories by myself, so I am still afraid of dark; third, I think it is because I am so used to see things, and when in the dark, that I can't see anything, touch anything, I feel helpless.

I do like darkness... It does relax me... Sometimes when I can't fall asleep, I like to lay still in pitch black dark room & keep the window open... You should try that... You start to hear things around your house you'd never notice during the day time...

I'm seriously afaid of the dark, i'm more scare of the outside dark. I don't like being in the dark because something or someone can jump out and do something to you. I'm scared of what people can do to you in that dark..
