As a mom, do you still make a decent attempt to be cute?

As a young mother of three small children I do still try to look attractive. That is for my husband's sake (I don't want to turn into the mom that just lounges around all day looking like she still has on her pj's)...no offense to moms that do that, I just don't want to. I've found that haircuts are hard to maintain and I never was one that spent a lot of time in front of a mirror. Now that it is summertime I'm thinking about chopping my hair off pretty short - so it doesn't take a lot to maintain, but still looks cute and stylish. What are your thoughts about looks as a mom?

I would cut it short. what the heck why not! Some times us mom's want to feel like a woman. I always get up and get dressed and put my face on. I to do not want to turn in to the plain jane mom. I do it for myself and my huusband. It makes you feel great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I agree with you - it also does make me feel great! And I mean to say as a "stay at home mom"... not just "mom".. but I guess it applies to both :-)

This is something that I have actually let slip a lot and made a decision the other day to change. As a mum of 2 toddlers i do find it very challenginf to get the time to make the effort so i ended up letting it all slip, i wasnt one of those people who stayed in the pj's all day tho but i made the bare minimal effort when leaving the house. I have decided that has to change now tho so am making more of an effort, i have dug out the hair straightners and the make up lol!

Maybe while the kids are taking a nap you could give yourself some beauty time or get a little earlier than them.

Yeah! When my hair grows to the point where all I do is toss it up in a bun or pony tail I try to get it cut to an easy do. I have to say I did that for quite a while and finally pulled out my straightener too! LOL

I wear my hair long so I could just tie it or pull it all up when I am busy. I am already cute (because I really am so petite hehehe) so I don't need to make an attempt to look like one joke! As much as possible, I prefer wearing clothes I am really comfortable with since your feeling towards what you wear reflects of you anyway. So most of time, you'll see me in shorts and shirts only. I reserve my sexy, plunging tops for private settings :-)

I agree-during the day at home with the kids it's cute and comfortable. Whatever you feel good and relaxed in.

I'm not a mum, I'm a guy but I do believe you should always try to look good no matter what your age. I used to have a friend who was 67 years old, always dressing up, buying shoes, asking me how she looked, chiding me when my shoes didn't shine, telling me about how I looked, etc. Its always good to look good. Not only for your husband but also for your friends. Thats what I think, anyway.

Yes I agree - and just for yourself as well! I always think... I want to look cute so that if I had to drop by my hubby's job his co-workers would say I'm cute! Not that my hubby's like that - he's very sweet and supportive, but I do like to look good for him and make him proud... (smile)

I think that if it makes you feel good to look good then do it. It shouldn't be for other people (maybe a little for your husband) but it should mainly be for you. I'm not saying spend hours in front of the mirror every morning, I'm just saying do what you can so that you like what you see when look in the mirror. I am 27 and I have two kids. Sometimes, I honestly don't care what I look like as long as I don't smell. But most of the time I do take 15 mins out of my morning to make sure I like what I see in the mirror even if I don't ever look in another mirror again all day and I don't leave the house for anything special. I still need to make sure I like myself and I'm happy with what I look like. Even if no one sees me all day, it's not for anyone but me and my self-esteem. There's nothing wrong with wanting to look good as long as it doesn't become an obsession. Everyone, especially hard working mothers, deserve to look good every single day.

Yes I agree with you totally! And I do feel better when I've taken a few moments to beautify myself :-)Plus it helps my day go along if the kids and I have to run out... I don't have to then take the time to get ready to go out in public. I'm just ready to go and enjoy my day!

Yes before he gets home no matter what I'm doing I try to cute up a little bit. If I'm sick though he can forget it.

Now that I am pregnant again it is getting harder. But if my hubby and I are going to go out, I try. I do have days once in a while where I just can't put too much effort in. I get my hair cut regularly. I guess like most,I have gooddays and not so good.

Just because you are a mom doesn't mean you don't get to look cute anymore. When you take pride in how you look, you will feel better about yourself. Your children learn by example, so they will learn to care about their appearance, too. So, just be careful that you look like a mom . . . but a cute one. No need to go to extremes. At 53, I still put on shadow and mascara every day, without fail. I might have lost my figure, and my hair may be greying, so I don't look "cute" anymore, but I still care. Enjoy being cute while you can because it will change to something other than cute. I'm not sure what to call it . . . old . . . no, grandmotherly is nicer. :-)

Yes I agree! And I look pretty young also...at my oldest daughter's last preschool the kids used to ask me if I was her sister.. I had to let them know I was her mommy. So I feel like I'm that "cool" mom, you know since I am so young. I was raised by my grandmother who was 70, and I always envied my friends who had young moms...that was when I was a kid. I completely appreciate my good raising now that I'm an adult and greatful for my grandma!
