Remember when Oprah was turned away at Hermes store in Paris? They said that they were having a special private event and could not accomodate her. Remember how insulted she was and thought it was racism? See link below for more details. Do you think it was racism? Would they have let other people in? Did they exclude Oprah because of her color? What do you think really happened? http://forums.yellowworld.org/showthread.php?t=24628

Stores are very particular when having sales like this, they must not havr recognized her or they surely would have made an exection in her case.

If they make an exception for her, they should make one for me.

As I remember it, she was turned away because there was a private party talking place inside the store. I don't think it had anything to do with color, rather the store manager respecting the privacy of those in there already for a private shopping event.

I have a feeling that most celebrities are not used to being turned down.

I think Oprah was insulted because she thought she could use her celebrity status to be allowed to shop in the store when it was actually closed. I think it would have been nice, and definitely good business for the store to let her shop, considering how much she is capable of spending. But they did have their times posted. I don't believe it was racism.

I don't think it was, either.

They were obviously closed and not impressed that she was Oprah. I'm not impressed either.

I think if they choose not to let me in they should do the same with celebrities.

She was upset that they didn't recognize her for who she was, that's all, nothing more, nothing less. There was a private event going on and other people she herself probably did not know had priority. Here in the US the stores' managers are probably sent back to the store when she comes knocking even if everything is already dark and closed down. She simply received the treatment every other rich American tourist would get. A sorry, but we are closed, shut the door in the face kind of treatment. As far as I recall it the racism accusations were never substantiated by her but everything was eventually mellowed down by her reps to make it go away. She has to face the fact that she may be a celebrity here, but most of Europe doesn't really care that much, lol. Quite frankly, I have always thought she is a bit full of herself.

I think she is, too. She did not start out that way. In the beginning, some people could relate to her. That was a long time ago. Now, they just want her freebies and to be rich like she is. I have my family and air conditioning. I am happy.

When a person after knowing God, deliberately walks away from Him what do you think will happen? She publicly rejected God and has started her own "religion" which I prefer to call a cult. Basically teaching us that we ARE god etc. So I guess for her to be turned away from Hermes was just the icing on the cake when it comes to finding out just how bad rejection feels. If we can't stand to feel rejected can you imagine how God must feel?

I agree. I wonder what happened to her.
