yes it is true, vitamin supplements are great as supplements to your diet, but in some cases overdoses can occur. The human body can withstand only so much of one type of vitamin. There can be deadly results from consuming extreme amounts of vitamins. When taking any vitamin supplements only take as directed. It is best to alwasy consult your doctor first. Talk to your doctor about concerns of vitamin deficiency and he will be able to do the proper testing and diagnose a proper vitamin diet for you.

Some people always say that too much of everything is not always good, this saying also apply to some supplements. Vitamins, Minerals and other food supplements can also be harmful when taken in large amounts, because they build up to dangerous levels in the body tissue. A toxic effect is rare with the water soluble vitamin B and C because they cannot be stored in the body in significant amounts, any excess is simply excreted in the urine. Very high doses of Vitamin C have been known to cause diarrhea and increase the production of kidney stones in people who are already prone to it. You should not take more vitamin then directed. Your body will not use up any extra of the vitamins and you will only end up eliminating them. If you are not eating fruits and vegetables, you need to start. Fruits and vegetables (preferably organic) will provide you with the hundreds of thousands of vitamins that are found in these foods. Did you know there are over 10,000 naturally occurring vitamins in 1 medium sized apple (these are vitamins that scientists have been able to identify to date, what about all the others they are still exploring). When we use a "one a day" it is fragmented (meaning only containing the ingredients the makers have on the label. If you eat the recommended intake of fruits/vegetables you are getting everything your body needs (and these needs change daily) everyday. You won't need to supplement. If eating the servings is difficult, then consider purchasing a "juicer". You can also consider using a whole food supplement that contains all the nutrition of the food it is made from (not fragmented). I personally use Juice Plus because it has scientific research behind it proving it gives you just about the same nutrition as if you ate the ingredients in their whole raw form

Of course. In zinc if you take overdosage it can hurt your absorption of iron and copper , it can cause to lack of these minerals and couse anemia, vomiting, headache, fever, exhaution and stomach ache. Potassium - the levels of potassium in the blood are regulated properly by the kidneys and every extra quantum is discharge in the urine. doses over 18 gram can cause hard disturbance of the heart pace and paralysis of the muscles. toxification from iron is highly dangerous. The symptoms are stomach ache, nausea and vomiting, fever, swelling of the stomach and decreasing of blood pressure which needing immediate treatment. what kind of Vitamins do you take ?

I think too much of something is bad. So even if it's only vitamins, You also get overdosed. There is such illness that is is called when your body has too much of like calcium , iron, potassium, magnesium, and others. I believed that our body should only take what is the required daily intake and depends on our age and weight.

I'm not a doctor ya, but to my opinion do not rely so much on vitamins. Teach your body with healthy food, better living & exercise. Treat it naturally, juz take the necessary vitamins only. Take an example to old one who still can live with age 80++ and above without taking any vitamins

You should not take vitamin with out knowing whether it is needed or not. Another thing is that one should not have vitamin tablets for more than three weeks continuously even if you are deficient of that particular vitamin. The presence of over amount of vitamins in our body will also cause some diseases. Too much of any thing including vitamins are bad for the body.

I believe that if you have a healthy, balanced diet there is no need for a vitamin supplement unless your doctor suggests it due to lack of iron or calcium.

Some of them will even kill you if you take high enough doses, but I think that's rare and usually only happens to small children who chug a bottle. My doctor recommended that I take a once-a-day, complete vitamin and told me that it was probably more than I needed. Be careful if you're 'freehanding' your vitamins or taking multiple multivitamins a day! I think iron and calcium are the two big ones to worry about.
