I am sure most of us here do not get the hours of Sleep we want everyday. Some of us here sleep very little in the weekdays and then try to make up for lost sleep time by sleeping a lot in the weekends. There are also some of us who sleep very little everyday. There may also be the lucky ones who get to sleep as much as they want everyday. (not me ) I am currently sleeping around 5-7 hours on weekdays. On weekends, I sleep slightly more. I sleep around 7-8 hours. Due to my busy lifestyle, I never get to sleep the number of hours I want. I personally feel that 10 hours will be good for me. All of us are unique and different. We have different expectation and needs. How about you? How many hours are you sleeping now and how many hours of sleep do you think is good for you?

I've always heard between 6-8 hours is ideal. Anything less than that and you literally create a sleep log or something to that effect that you need to catch up on for your body to work ideallly. I find if I sleep over 8 hours I actually feel worse than if I sleep only 5, so I try to stay on a fairly strict schedule. I also hate waking up with alarm clocks, and I find that I can regulate my wake up time naturally if I stay consistent with when I go to bed.

Yea. We all have a biological clock in us. This explains why some people wake up the same time everyday and feel tired around the same time every night.

I think that forever sleep is the best one. ^^ Just kidding! don't worry! Actually, I could not sleep well since I left my home to go to study at a far college. The place I live is very noisy from 6:00am until midnight. I cannot concentrate on my homework in the morning or the afternoon. I have to study from midnight. Luckily, I can sleep until 10:00am next day if I don't have class, but it is not also a good sleep because of the noise. T.T

Oh dear.. I hope the noise will go away and you can get more quality sleep. If it doesn't, how about wearing ear plugs when you sleep?

I really need enough sleep to function optimum, hahaSometimes I do a lot of thinking in bed before sleep which I know is a very bad habit which I'm trying to cut off. My wife is just amazing though. The moment her head hits the pillow she's in dreamland already. To me it's not really how many hours I sleep but whether even in the shortest of 5 or 6 hours do I really have deep sleep. Sometimes I maybe in bed at around 10pm but I won't be able to sleep until 12+ or even 1+ because my mind is still super active, hahaPrefarably I would say 8hours of deep sleep is really what I need which I'm lacking lately

I've experienced that too. I really hate tossing on the bed. I usually make myself really tired ie read a boring book in the hope to get to sleep faster. Maybe you can try.

I need atleast 6 hours of sleep daily. But still even if I get a less sleep in the previous night, I would be able to cope up with my daily activities. But this can be just for a day or two. More than that, my body will not cooperate. So I need a rest of atleast 6 hours a night. My weekdays and weekends sleeps are the same.. I could never sleep an hour extra in the weekends. I automatically awake from my bed. I have tried a lot to take a good rest on weekends. But I'm unable to . I'm not able to lie down simply on the bed without getting a sleep. So I get up from the bed. But I feel that I'm ok with this many hours of sleep.I feel jealous of my hubby who takes atleast 8 hours of rest a day.He goes to bed late and wakes up late..I think he enjoys the life in his own way..m.m.m

Being able to sleep 7 hours on a week day is consider good already loh. So many things to do since we got our own little patch to call home. The usual number of hours would be around 5-6 hours on a week day. Weekends will vary depending on the activities we have planned for that week. If the in-laws are visiting, it would be like a normal week day schedule, cos there are so many places to go and only so many hours in a day. Other wise, if we can catch that extra hour or two to make it a 8 hour sleep cycle, that would be the best!

hey dear poohgal It depends upon the sleeping habits and other essential needs of human being. Those who are students and goes to school early they have no alternative but to wake up in the early morning i.e. 6 AM . Those who are regularly doing morning exercise/walking they wake up in the early morning. Those who are office goers i.e. 10 AM they usually wake up within 8 AM and those who are old aged people due to their overage they can not sleep more and I have seen they usually wake up at 5.30 to 6.00 AM. I think for a sound health people atleast 7 hrs sleeping time is must to feel your body and mine fresh. There is proverb I think which you have all heard that early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy & wise. It is an universal truth. I regularly go to my bed at 11.00 PM sharp and in the morning I wake up at 6.30 AM, but it is also true on sunday I use to sleep more time as it is off day. pkc3000

I have read an article before that people who sleep 6-7.5 hours a day live longer than those who sleep less or more than that. The average they say is 8 but I think it varies with people. As for me, I usually get 6-8 hours and oversleep on free days. LoL. If I don't get at least 6 hours I feel so weak. So there, 6 hours should be my minimum.

Getting proper sleep is as important as getting proper amount of nutrition...the wonders of sleep is often praised after losing it...one must have atleast 6-8 hrs of sleep to fit n active whole day...lack of sleep causes lot of problems...most common ones are laziness, poor concentration on wrk, headache etc... Sleep well n stay fit frnds !!

At least 7 hours is good enough sleep for me but there had been times where I only have 3 to 5 hours of sleep and I tell you, I am so grumpy every time that happens especially if I'm in a bad mood. I easily get mad the entire day and I am more irritable than ever. Even the tiniest mistake annoys me. When I'm in a good mood however, I am cheerful than usual. Lack of sleep makes me act weird I guess. During free days though I can get to sleep for more than 8 hours. By free days since I am currently unemployed I mean, no movie dates with friends, no dinner dates, lunch dates or any kind of plans involving me leaving the house.

Sleep? I try to get as much as I can. During the school year I was going to bed at 10 and getting up at 4:30. Since it is summer I try to sleep in a little longer but the early morning is my 'sacred' time to do whatever I want to before everyone wakes up! It can be very weary but it is nice to know I got something done before the day even starts. And watching the sun come up and the birds sing to me is awesome!

True. I used to get up at 530am to run. That's a great feeling. Now, I can't. I can only run in the evening. I find it difficult to wake up early.

They say at least eight hours a day is good for you. I don't for sure but I think your body will tell you also. If you still feel tired during the day then you may well be not sleeping enough during the night. I think it is important for us and for our general health and well being but I can understand with stresses of life and worries how some people can lose sleep sometimes. I think that exercise during the day can help a person get better sleep at night and help them sleep more like a baby so to speak.

Hmm, the amount of sleep I get really varies from day to day, but in general I am good with about 6 hours, though sometimes I need as much as ten. I've been sleeping a lot more the past few days though because I just had surgery four days ago to remove my appendix.

As I got older this dwindled from 10hours to 7hours or 6hours of sleep. I've worked in the night shift before and it has somehow affected my sleeping patterns. Had the night shift type of work for 4 years. Now that I'm back to the normal day schedule, I get to sleep normally, 7-8 hours.
