Why is it that men refuse to see a doctor until its nearly too late?

This drives me nuts. I've seen it time and time again with my family. The guy isnt feeling well and OBVIOUSLY is sick but they go oh no i'm fine I'm tough I'll get better. And they put off seeing the doctor until whatever is wrong has progressed so far they are too sick to move, cancer progressed too far to treat, going to lose a limb or whatever else. I'm not sure why...is anyone else? Is it because they dont like doctors? They are scared to find out theres much more wrong than they think? Or do they just want us to think theyre tough and not lose their "macho manly image"? Any thoughts? feelings?

i know this kind of attitude. my father is sick. and he takes his medicine from monday to friday and he doesn't take it on holidays :( he can't understand the danger he is in if he doesn't take his medicine.

That is dangerous! I'd be worried. Glad my dad at least takes his medicine when he goes and gets it finally.

perhaps men are like teenagers in the thoughts that they think they are invincible! my hubby is pretty good though, if he is feeling ill, he will go to the drs with out much complaint.

That's good. Both my dad and my boyfriend are VERY stubborn when it comes to going to the doctor - they do not want to go at all.
