I think majority of people are afraid of donating their blood because of some misguided facts. It is our responsibility to aware people about the positives of donating blood,so that we can save precious life.

I don't know if it makes me a bit morbid, but I actually enjoy giving blood- it is just not easy to do these days as I have a young toddler and don't have any family to look after him when I want to go. My blood group is O- the universal donor, so they are always running very short of this type. The whole process is so safe and sterile, the staff, at least in the Uk are wonderfully reassuring and supportive, making sure every precaution has been taken and every procedure followed to ensure you are looked after and feeling well before you leave. I totally agree that everyone who meets the criteria should do their duty and try to donagte blood, even if not regularly- it really does save lives in all sorts of ways adn helps people with critical illneses, in childbirth and in circumstances you might never have considered before. In the UK the website is www.blood.co.uk for all the facts and information you might need to help you make up your mind.

I would love to be able to donate blood. I think as many people as possible should do it, it's so important. Unfortunately I'm unable to for medical reasons. It really bothers me.
