Prices going down!

Now this is good news. Good News Network quotes an article from CNBC [What Inflation? Some Items That Actually Cost Less, Friday June 13, 12:11 pm ET] The article says that while many prices are on the rise there are prices that are decreasing. They say that many electronics, women's clothes, hotel rooms, theme parks, and dinnerware are some of the ones priced lower. Jim Glassman, senior U.S. economist at JPMorgan Chase, says "The economy is not falling apart. It’s just stuck." The article says that "the consumer price index confirmed the predicted rise in gasoline and food costs, but core prices remained relatively flat." We can see the glass as half empty or half full. Where do you stand?

Salary cut? Oh, my. That hurts twice as much. I'm on a fixed income and I only have to try to stretch it farther. If it were cut I'm not sure what we'd do.

Well, the economists may say the prices are flat across the board, but I'm not seeing it. I see women's clothing priced about the same as last year, and other items the same, not lower, unless it's a few pennies here and there that I don't recognize. I guess I don't believe it. That being said, maybe we will stop our massive consumerism in this country - buying and buying. Cutting down isn't pleasant, but maybe we can survive it after all.

Sometimes we have to be hit in the head with a 2x4 to wake us up to our harmful behaviors. Yes, I'm hoping it will level off BECAUSE we are consuming less. I'm always amazed that people have so much stuff that they have to rent a space to store it because it is more than fits in their home. I imagine people in many other countries would think that absurd.

Unforunately the items listed are all ones that I cannot afford to buy even if they do not increase in price or stay the same as they are all, for me, luxury items. I am using the money I have just for the basic necessities of living. So my glass is still almost empty.

Like many of us, we struggle to make do with what we have because while prices go up on what we need, our income stays the same.

Well, since most of my money goes for gas or food, then I would have to say half-empty. After I pay for gas and food, I don't have any money left to buy those other things no matter how low their prices are.

Hrmmm. Considering I do not purchase many of these other products that are going down or staying the same. I see it half empty because my price is actually going up. I still think there needs to be relief from the gas prices. And yes the economy maybe stuck but will it come back up or fall?

I believe it will go up once we have stabilized. We have to recover from all the overspending of the past few years and we have to re-evaluate what we need vs. what we want. I like to think it is half full for now.
