For me it was when I ups and left my homeland for Italy ...that was my first time in Europe and travelling way to the otherside of the Atlantic ocean. What about you?

The farthest I've been is the US. I'm in the US right now for a business trip which is a 6 month period and I get really homesick and sad =( My trip will end this July so I'm looking forward to getting back home in the Philippines! :)

Thanks, I hope to have a good trip too. 2 days more and it's July already. It'll only be 3 more weeks before I can see my family and fiance. I'm getting giddy with excitement. hehe. =)

Hawaii back when I was 12 1/2. This took place in the summer of 1965. When I was in college about a decade later, I wrote to a family from Hawaii, and they told me that I'd gone there at a good time--especially, where Honolulu was concerned--because it had become more commercialized since then. They told me that, if I ever returned there, to stay at their house, because they lived in the country near a small town, and I would be experiencing more of a taste of the "real" Hawaii out there. I had a neat surprise at the time that I went there as a child. My folks and I had gone to the evening performance at The International Marketplace (something we usually did each night unless we had something else going on or were visiting one of the other islands), and this woman came up to us exclaiming something like, "Imagine seeing you here!" It was my fourth grade teacher! She and her husband were over there on a second honeymoon. When he passed away a few years later and we went to the visitation, Mrs. Moore was hugging me and crying while saying, "And to think that we saw you in Hawaii!" Mrs. Moore turned 100 last August, btw, and was still living in her own house, driving her own car, buying her own groceries, and going out with her great-granddaughter to eat at least once-a-week!

There is always something about home you miss when away...for me it was the food. It took me three years to get accustomed to the food...

The farthest away from home I have ever been was in Mexico, other than that my trips have been pretty short and close to home, maybe like the next state over from mine.
