the best musical instrument??

I play quite a few instruments so I've thought a bit about this. To me, a good instrument is one that can play a lot of melodies and make nice music. So anything that is only one octave is probably out. But then, another important quality is also that the instrument is easily portable and available for practicing. This rules out a lot of instruments for me. I like playing autoharp, but I have to tune 37 strings before I can start. Not that I don't practice though, it's just harder to have that much time. Violin and viola are a lot of fun, but I can't take them everywhere with me. Yet the harmonica fits right in my pocket, purse, backpack, wherever I want to put it. So I'd have to say, the harmonica is quite possibly the best musical instrument. It's always ready to play and even if you just have 5 spare minutes, you can sit around and improve on something.

i think that the best instrument of all time is violin. although guitar is good too! i like violin because it has a melodic sound. i see that you like the guitar a lot. i own a guitar but unfortunately i dont know how to play it. in the very first beginning i was learning well but later i got too lazy to learn.

I'm a guitar player so I'm going to have to be a bit biased on this one, lol. I love playing guitar because it's so comforting. I have a bass and a keyboard, but they don't get as much love, lol. But I like my keyboard more than my bass. I'm a terrible bass player.

everybodys hearing is tuned differently so there is no right answer for this question.

Trumpets are the best of all time, hands down.
