We've been camping close to home so we occasionally go get our dogs and let them spend the day down with us. (ok so some of us like me pretend to camp and go home at night cause we like to breathe too much) Today we took one of our dogs and granny's dog to the lake with us after a trip home for the ham and corn. We put leashes on the dogs on the way down to the lake. Getting there we start getting out of the car and these two large dogs come into our campsite. In the park they are to be LEASHED not roaming free amongst strangers. So Mom gets out and tells the two dogs to "go home" and to "get lost" loudly hoping the owner will hear and come to get them. They dont leave and their owner doesnt come. Mom gave it push her leg - both hands are full with a beach bag and some groceries. At this point Muffy and Rosie decide to jump out of the car and Kathleen didnt notice these two strange dogs(my cousin shes 14). The larger of the two dogs spots Muffy and decides to go after her. So Muffy growls and tries to hide. Rosie races out of the car and towards mom to hide as well. I pushed the black dog away and it went. We tried to go farther into our campsite. They followed. Moms still yelling at this other dog and its started growl and snap at our little dogs and my sister. The dogs were hiding behind moms legs AND my sister was between the dogs and my mom. So mom with the bag over her arm lets the bag swing at the larger dog who isn't deterred at all. It didn't hit it hard just swung at it. A woman comes SHRIEKING across the street going "you don't hit other peoples dogs" Mom tells her to get her dogs out of our campsite they're attacking our dogs. And this woman goes well people shouldn't have little dogs. And makes NO move to get her dogs out of our site. Its STILL snapping and growling at my moms feet so she pushes it with the bag again which sets the girl off shrieking again "you should know they don't bite" HOW??? We don't know these dogs. They came into our site OFF leash and started growling and snapping at our dogs while ours are running for protection. Yes, one growled at them but she was running at the same time. Then her boyfriend comes along and hes going oh they don't bite they're fine (at least he takes them away) A man from another campsite comes down the road at this point while they're insisting their dogs are safe to be off leash. He tells them that They attacked a girl this morning when they weren't in the campsite and left their dogs untied. "Oh no our dogs wouldn't do that." and the girl walks away cursing and swearing about other campers. We took our dogs home. We also reported them for the dogs being off leash and not being controlled. My uncle came over with his dogs and we put them in the trailer because their dogs were off leash again. What would you have done? Obviously no one was coming to help at the point my mom swung the bag a the dog. I've always been taught with dogs like that not to hit them with a body part because they'll go after that body part. We tried moving away we tried telling them to go away and pushing them away. The woman didnt care until my mom "hit" her dog.

ooh that would piss me off! the coming over and acting like YOU were doing something wrong! first off..REPORT THEM! report it to whomever runs the camping site, or the local dog catcher/humane society! but report it to someone, and if anybody else has also been attacked or threatened by their LOOSE dogs and made a report themselve, the authorities will look at the incident much more seriously. i also would have ripped that stupid woman an new one on BOTH sides, and i wouldnt have thought twice about beating the aggressive dog with anything i had in my hands. bag, purse, stick on the ground next to me! its because of ppl exactly like that with dogs that "wouldnt hurt a fly" that there ARE leash laws to begin with!

I was so very tempted to tear her a new one. I restrained myself and let my mom and the man have at her lol. We did report them (my mom made a two page occurance report to them)
