How many of you still use your crock pot? I decided to pull my crock pot out today, to cook my dinner, because with the heat I really did not want to turn on the stove or oven. I prepared beef stew for my husband, and threw in chicken breast for me. It really smells good, it has now been crocking for 4 hours, I will let it go another 2 hours before we have dinner. My husband will have his beef over noodles. I think I will prepare a savory rice to go with my chicken. I like to add diced green peppers, onions, garlic, and tomatoes, and mix in cooked rice. Yum Yum good. Hope everyone will enjoy their dinner.

I love using the crock pot. Although I do not use it very often, it comes in handy when you need to be out of the house for a while. The two main things I cook in the crock pot is beef stew (which is just delicious!)and an apple cider with cinnamon.

I like to use my crockpot...I usually soak some beans the night before and slice up some onions and put in my spices the next morning put it on low and go to work, by the time I get home all I have ot do is check the taste and make some sweet cornbread to go with it. I also use it for stews and I have some recipes form people at work who make crockpot pizza....which is awesome.

I love to use mine, although I don't use it as often as I used to. I cooked a roast in mine last Sunday. It was absolutely wonderful. I seasoned and browned the roast in a pan first, then put it in the crock pot, added a little water and turned it on. It couldn't have been better. Sometimes when I make a roast in it, I will cut up veggies and add to the pot...potatoes, carrots, celery or bell pepper, onions...and even tomatoes. It sure does beat heating up the kitchen in the summer!

I just bought a used crock pot. I haven't used one in years but thought it would be nice to start using one now. It would be a lot less work I think and not be so rushed to get it done. Now I just need to find recipes other than roasts and stews and soups to make in it. Any ideas?

I love my crock pot! In the summer it doesn't heat up the kitchen so much and I can cook a meal while I'm doing other things. There's just me here, but I'll put in all the ingredients for a meal for 4 or 5 people. Then I just freeze individual portions of the left-overs so I don't have to cook for a few more meals. If the meal includes potatoes I only put in enough for 1 person because I don't like frozen potatoes.

I think crock pots are amazing. It's nice to be able make food without actually having to be in the kitchen the whole time, you know? Beef stews are really ideal. My mom and I used to make lots of that.

I use my crock pot on the days I am working and sometimes when I am here at home all day. I love mine as it doesn't heat up the house. You can fix a complete meal in one. They are awesome and very easy to transport to and from potlucks at church and other community events. I actually have three different sizes of crock pots. The small one I mainly use it during parties for keeping like the cheese dip warm. I have one that is about medium in size and I use it for beans, soups, and when it is just the hubby and I here. The big one I use it for church pot lucks I have made chicken & dumplings, beef stew, cooked roasts, spagetti & meatballs, and the list goes on in it. I think I actually use the crock pots more than I cook on the stove or in the oven. It is less clean up too which is another reason I use one.

Unused to cooking for more than two people, I was a bit anxious about cooking for my visiting family. Friday and Saturday I will be cooking for ten! And like you I didn't want to heat up the house with the cooking stove. So I've been doing crock pot meals. I made a barbecue crock pot meatloaf that smelled so good all day that there wasn't a crumb left after supper. The day before I did navy bean and ham soup. The ham bone was left over from Easter! Thursday I think I'll make crock pot pizza. Hi There, I can't say that I ever really got into using my crockpot too much for most of my life. However, I have begun to use it recently. The reason is that my life has gotten so incredibly busy! I am always doing something and do not have time to make a full meal all the time. THis is where the crockpot comes totally in handy. I put something in it in the morning and the crockpot does the work for me! cheers,

There are a few things I like to cook in a crock pot. I like to cook beans with bacon, salt pork, or neckbones and onion. I'll make chili soup or vegetable soup in the crockpot because the slow cooking blends all the flavors together really nicely. My favorite, though, is to cook pork steak or chops with sauerkraut. Now THAT is really good!
