hi mylotters just wondering if anyone had ever heard of the custom of a chiavree,do not know if spelling its right, anyway everyone honks thier horns at the wedding party as'they drive off after having attached various cans and other noise' makers to their rear bumper of their car. It used to be done a'lot back in my home state of SD when I was growing up and as I understand it some one precedes the wedding party to the home of the newlyweds and there put oddball things in the weddding bed or short sheet it or other such mischief?

I have heard of one but the closest that we ever came to it was when my son got married last December.. We did do a job on his car and I tried to get everyone to follow him as they left for their honeymoon, but only a few carloads went with us.. It made a funny site with his car all foamed up with some kind of soapy lather and car loads of people following him and honking like a bunch of crazy people.. That was as far as we went, but it sure did embarass him and his new wife..

hi Donna your poor son, I always felt a bit sorry for those whose friends had put junk inthe wedding bed as I think that is going too far.

well yeah but i dont know the exact term of it..but i already seen that but not in person just on local tv series here in our country..putting on thing in or under the bed is that i dont know off..but well maybe the people who do that are closest friends of the couple i guess...just wondering what if the couple decides to have their honeymoon on hotels?

hi vanities I wondered about that too, and also I feel that putting silly stuff into the wedding bed is going way too far in my estimation.

Sure! My parents did it to me when I got married in 1987, 21 years ago. If the reception is held at a different place from the church the Bride and Groom lead the way with the wedding party and family following behind all blowing horns and flashing lights and screaming and yelling as if the Yankees had just won the pennant. The prank that was pulled was my parents doings. They got a hold somehow(secretly of course) of our luggage and put rice in every single rolled up sock, pocket, inside every piece of clothing, suitcase pockets, make-up case, etc.etc. If it could hold a piece of rice it was there. RICE WAS EVERYWHERE! What was real funny was one year later I flipped open a pair of ankle socks and rice went flying everywhere. We had to laugh. First at the memory and second at the fact that I had amazingly not worn that pair of socks for an entire year!

No I have never heard of this before! I have heard of attaching the cans and things to the bumper though and I always wondered where that idea came from.
