Spyware protection

I just downloaded AVG 8.0 free and noticed that it has spyware protection included. http://free.avg.com/ww.download?prd=afe With my old virus scanner, it didn't include anti-spyware capability so I downloaded Windows Defender. Do I still need to keep it or can I delete it to free up some space? I do have room to keep it if the consensus is that it is good to have both. Opinions or ideas, my friends?

hi so they did not charge for AVG 8 freee, that great news as I have 7 and had some notice of needing to go to 8 and was afraid I was going to be charged for it. thats great it 8 has both virus and spyware, that would be fantastic. you wouldnt need windows defender with the AVG I would not think.

As with Moolahmagnet, I use Spybot-Search and Destroy. It's really effective and has kept my computer spyware-free for all of its three years.

I too have had the free AVG and Spybot for years and have had no problems with my computer. I want to thank you for the link to the new AVG 8.0 as I hadn't upgraded because I thought they were going to charge for it. Thank you, thank you.
