At 5:32 a.m june 19, a women in a hospital gown in the wating area of the psychiatric emergency room of a New York City hospital topples first to her knees before collapsing on her face. A full hour passes. Other people stream in and out of the waiting room, including hospital security guards. The woman writes somthing on the ground befor going to completely still. Finally, someone takes notice and alerts... ( my response) This is a reflection of our society as a whole. It is called "it does not affect me". It has nothing to do with race or color. This woman was abandoned by both white and black. How can you teach sensitivity to a human being? Never mind someone who is educated and paid to care.Right!!! How about-you watched a woman die and you will be held accountable.I hope the family of this woman cleans house on this hospita. If they do not have care about life, may be their wallets will ache!

I saw that on TV, and it appalled my how noone came to her rescue. They just looked, and kept on doing what they were doing. Anyone in a mental hospital, needs to be watched, and anything that does not look normal should be looked into. That is why they are there in the first place, because they are not rational. That hospital, should be sued for all they are worth. That lady did not have to die like that, had she had the medical attention she needed instantly, she would still be here today, she was only 49

that is horrible. yes, most people will just go on. to many of us are programed to not but into others business. they had a show on tv for a while called what would you do ? and that was mostly what it was about. very seldom did anyone step forward to help others. they were many hours sometimes at locations trying to get reactions from people wanting to help someone. sad!

Wow! Do you have a link to the entire story. I am wondering if maybe she was a "regular" at the hospital and this was part of her "regular" act. I know that happens sometimes. It is still a shame that somebody didn't just at least ask her if she was okay. It is no excuse for people's behaviors. I am CPR certified and am glad I have never had to use it. I would though if need be.
