Can anyone tell me what it is like shopping in New York? I heard things are expensive there.

Remember, on top of the prices, be they cheap or expensive, there is a sales tax attached.

Any idea what the rate? Is it the same as Florida 6.50%?

Eating out is alot more . Just going to a tgif's is double the price , and smokes are more money . My bro told me that when he was a smoker . There are many well known stores where you will pay out the bum for things . But there are many smaller stores where you can find a deal . Time Square has everything so you might wanna shop there to find deals . There are so many cool thing you will come across . Also, China town has good deals on clothing .

Sounds great - thanks for the tip. Are the taxes the same in Time Square and China Town the same as elsewhere?

It is just like any other city, it depends on where you go. Of course there are the Saks 5th Avenue and other stores down that venue that are extremely expensive. But then again, there are some stores that you can get really good deals, even unbelievable deals. Just like in Chicago. One store that stands out in my mind, is this store right beside of the site of the World Trade Towers. Everything in there was so cheap when I was there. And the people in the store were so excited. There were people everywhere snatching up all of the great deals. So if you are planning a visit, just look around. I am sure you can find something.

Oh they are! Really expensive, too. Things that cost about 200 bucks elsewhere, sometimes cost as much as 350 up in NY. It's ridiculous!
