Interesting abstract advice

I think it was Charles (businessman) and Tom (horse trainer). At the start, Charles heard Tom say: "You don't throw a whole life away cause it's banged up a little bit." (Referring to why he (Tom) was taking care of a horse that was never to race again.) Later, when Red (TM) would lose a race because of undeclared blindness i nhis right eye. Tom was furiously reporting that to Charles... Charles paused and said the same piece of advise: "Tom, you don't throw a whole life away cause it's banged up a little bit." There was a profoundness in that the same advice would (unexpectedly) apply to that second situation. It seems to inspire all who have undegone adversity in life one way or another. Please tell about your views, anyone?
