floating on one's back seems to have saved me 20 years ago when I swam too far from the shore into the sea. Honestly, I panicked a little bit when I ralized I was to far and I was tired! I realized I could float on my back and it gave me time to rest. For those who have not tried, floating on one's back is not as hard as it seems. Just makes sure: 1. be ready to blow air through nose when water splashes on face 2. relax and keep all arms and legs below the water. 3. an most importantly, try to relax Others, please share your experience on this :)

I agree with your advice. Although I have not got into a situation like yours, I found the floating on the back to be quite easy. The important thing is to relax. People tend to panic easily in the water and that is what worsens the situation.
