Have you ever searched for something when it was right under your nose?

I keep doing it all the time. I would be searching fervently for something while all along it has been right under my nose. I never understand why this happens...
My mother in law has this problem too. She would say i searched every nook and corner but i cant find this particular thing....
Then it would be there staring out from a prominent place.
Do our eyes cheat us or is it our mind playing tricks?
Can anybody tell me why this happens?

Constantly. i have lost my glasses when they have been on top of my head. The person is worse is my hubby though. He doesnt seem to know enough to move something out of the way when he is looking for something. i have to get up and get it for him I guess it's aploy to get me to find it in the first place.

It happens to me once in a while. In fact the last time it happened was just yesterday. I was looking for my car keys as I was about to leave the office. I just went around in circles and asked the people who were around me. a few minutes later I just sat on the chair and there it was right in front of me , where I had kept it last . I felt pretty foolish and laughed at myself.

Oh, yes this does happen to me quit often. I do not know why this happens to us. I am always loosing things and tearing the house apart looking for them. A lot of times they will be right under my nose as you say.I will be absolutly frantic looking for things at times.
