Cheese or no cheese?

My kids have never had broccoli with cheese on it. I only make it steamed with a little bit of butter unless it is in a casserole. How do you like yours? Cheese or no cheese?

I don't get broccoli very often because it is so expensive. When I do get it, I either buy it fresh or frozen. If fresh, I like it raw with veggie dips. I like to get broccoli slaw mix and add it to my salads. If I get it frozen, I like it mixed with cauliflower and steamed, sometimes with cheese, but most times without. I don't add butter either. I have cut out adding butter or margarine to vegetables to keep it more healthy. If your kids like broccoli just steamed, why not just keep it that way for now because it is very healthy for them that way. Then if you add the cheese, they may decide they want it with cheese all the time. How old are they? If they like it really well steamed, maybe they would appreciate having it a little different sometimes and not mind having it steamed or with cheese. I guess you know them best and what they might do if you make it with cheese. Someone mentioned Velveeta. I hate that stuff. I have only eaten it when it is in Mexican foods such as bean dips and then it is well disguised with spices. I wonder what other kinds of cheese people use over their broccoli and/or cauliflower...

They are 8 1/2 years old and 17 months old. I normally even cheat and give them the calorie free spray butter. They don't know the difference.

we do it both ways. one time we'll just put a little butter on it. the next time we'll melt some velveeta cheese on it. why have your kids never had it with cheese on it? do they not like cheese? you should try giving it to them, i bet they would like it.

They love cheese, but they have always eaten it so well without the cheese that I left well enough alone.

Cheese please!!!! Actually, I like brocolli anyway it is made. Steamed with butter is the way I have it most. But I love it dripping with cheese too. And brocolli casserole.. yum!

My kid doesn't eat broccoli with or without cheese! She never has and most likely never will. But my spouse and I eat it cause we are old people and have to eat yucky adult food. We can't survive off kid food. But I plan to get a blender and juice some broccoli and carrots and put into juice! I think she will rather drink it.

My kids love it without the cheese, so I figure if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Hi, lilybug. I love my broccoli with cheese on it. I love the way that it tastes too. I plan to make me some broccoli with cheese on it this month. I have a craving for this dish.
