If you are a smoker you will understand my frustrations. I am tired of not having a lighter to light my smoke. But let me tell you the story behind this. My daughter and I live together now, we got an apartment together, and we both smoke. She had her own lighter and I had mine. But I was always looking for a lighter so I went and bout a pack of six bic lighters. So I thought now we have 8 lighters, no problem, will always find one. But no it doesn't work out that way. I wake up this morning and I am one of those avid smokers that needs a smoke as soon as I open my eyes. I can't smoke in my apartment because it is a no smoking house so I have to go outside to have one. So I find my smokes and take one out of the package and look for a lighter. Well, where are all the fricken lighters, I can't find one anywhere in my house. I can't find any matches either. I am now getting mad. I can't light my smoke on the stove element or the toaster as I can't smoke in my house so I am getting madder by the second because I need a smoke. It is now about 10 minutes after I first pened my eyes and I need that smoke. I open my daughters bedroom door, she's sleeping, and I can't find one there either. So where are the fricken lighters? Sorry for the language but I was getting very frustrated and just thinking about it now, I still get upset. I eventually just lit it with the toaster. I still can't find a lighter. Where did they all go. Why is it they always dissappear. It's only been about 10 days since we had 8 lighters. Maybe this is trying to tell me to quit smoking. Please share your story if you have had this problem.

I have that exact same problem with my daughter. I will ask her where my lighter is and she will swear that she has none. She does. She just takes them without realizing. I once made her empty her purse and her pockets...yup...about 6 lighters. Now I keep extras in my purse and keep a close eye on both my butts and lighter. sometimes she will be talking on the phone and move to her room for privacy and just abscently pick up both my cigs and lighter. you have to be diligent in your guarding of these things especially around the offspring.

You are right. Now that my daughter is 25 years old she has finally told me that when she was around 15 years old she started smoking and she would help herself to my smokes, and I didn't know it. I can't blame her for starting to smoke since both myself and her dad smoked and we smoked around her, not hiding it from her that we smoked. So it is our faults that she ever started smoking.

I know a lot of people with this problem. Constantly my dad steals lighters, i know he doesn't mean to, but if you give him one you will never see it again, lol. Here are some things you can try to help you never lose a lighter again: 1. Hide a few in spots no one will ever look. Drawers, in a glass in the kitchen cabinets, etc. 2. Keep them in a "designated" spot - always return it to that spot, try not to take it from there. 3. Buy or get matches to keep on hand in an emergency :) Good to have even for non smokers :) You should make sure your daughter does these things, too. if you start making a habit of putting it exactly in the same place everyday you will find yourself losing them a lot less!

I do not smoke anymore but I do know your pain. I could never find lighters anywhere ever. I woud often give them to other people who asked for a light and never get them back. But for some reason all my lighters would end up in couch. I just knew that if my house ever caught on fire that my couch would just blow up. So next time that you can't find a lighter-try your couch. It always worked for me.
