Where does the drive to live come from?

Where does the drive for life come from? If you don't have drive where do you get it from? Some people litterally have no drive for life. They get up in the morning because they have responsibilites and not because they want to. They go to work because they have to. They raise their families because they are in that situation and have to. It isn't like they mope around; they do it all with a smile on their face in self acceptance of I am here and this is what I have to do. They have no hobbies as they have no passion or desire for anything. Everything in life feels like a chore to these types of people. They listen to different talk shows, read different books on following your passion, living with purpose and doing what drives you but yet they don't feel as they have any of this. They feel as if they are just existing in life and have no desire to be any different. They wonder what is wrong with me? Why don't I have the drive for life and where or what is my passion? These type of people are just happy to do nothing at all. What is the key thing to say to people such as these?

My husband has a great way of explaining things. "Yeah life gets hard sometimes, but I am too curious about what is going to happen next, to give up." He makes a good point.

My mother use to tell me curiousity kills the cat so I leant not to be curious. So if I were one of these people curiosity wouldn't do it for me? :)

I would suggest seeing a doctor first to determine if there is something wrong physically. Physical issues can cause depression. Life should be fun and interesting and I would worry about someone who is not enjoying life. We all have to work or do things we don't like to do in our lives. That's just the way life works. I would also highly recommend joining a local group of some sort. There has to be something the person who is not driven has to like. Could be a book club, knitting club, sporting club, etc. My life consists of working part time, knitting an afghan for our pregnant daughter, going to one of the local casinos and playing Keno, watching television and working on plastic canvas craft projects. I am not a telephone lover so I avoid that at all cost. I do spend alot of time on the computer but that's because I love it. MyLot has been fun and interesting. So there are things to do and keep busy either on the computer or away from the computer. It's finding the right interest that can be difficult. Have a great day, carolbee
