hm... if you're just starting with d-slr, you might be tempted to get a sony. even low-end cameras have built in vibration reduction and live-view. And, on the other hand, if you don't get a cmos-sensor nikon (a full-frame camera like the d3 or the d700), you'll get a nikon camera with a sony sensor. :) That's why most people say canon is better...coz canon makes it's own sensors. On the other hand, you can find nikon lenses almost everywhere. lenses for sony...uhm........ And, if you'll later decide to get into flash photography, well, nikon would be the best choice. If there are debates on who makes better cameras (nikon or canon, the major players in the d-slr game), there is NO DOUBT that nikon has the best flash possibilities. For example, with a sb-600 and a nikon d70, you can have a wireless flash unit. you don't need triggers and receivers. I don't know about other nikons, but i am LOVING this feature on my d70. Now, it's up to you. But, i would recommend talking to a photographer (or a person that has been in the photography bussiness for some time) and ask him about the FINANCIAL part of this debate. With a d-slr, all it comes down to is spend, spend, spend!!! (you have been warned). I thought gettin' a d-slr would make photography easier. it's not like that. in photography, you pay more for a feature than can be equipped with other things (accesories), things that cost more, and more, and more. cheers! and i hope my answer helped you...at least a bit. a good place to see camera reviews is dpreview.com

Hi! I'll also go and get that Nikon! Nikon is a trusted brand in getting the customer quality for the price he/she pays. Nikon DSLR Bodies are great to have and their lenses are great in quality, it's really worth every penny you spend buying it. Also, what's great in choosing Nikon over Sony is that as the first respondent said, it has a wide variety of third party manufacturers to choose from when it comes to Lens and accessories. What's bests is that all Nikon products are compatible towards almost all, you can use the Nikon lens that you stuck up in your attic and attach it to the latest model of Nikon's DSLR body and minus some features it will still be the same! Go ahead and buy a Nikon, I tell you, you'll never regret it!

Definitely Nikon!!! Nikon is one of the best manufacturers of DSLR cameras. You absolutely cannot go wrong with Nikon! There's a lot of debate among professional photographers about which brand is better: Nikon or Canon... but most all photographers will agree that when it comes to DSLR cameras, get either a Nikon or a Canon.
