Would you say a person is smarter if they have been through all the schooling in a given area, or if they have obtained all their knowledge through experience?

It is good to be book smart but also street wise, we gain so much knowledge with life's experiences so I would have to say both are equally important.

It's tough to say. Although this probably isn't the answer you're looking for, I would say it's best to have a combination of both.

that is very true, each offers it's own pro's and con's, hard to know which out weighs the other though

Well hmmm I think you would need a mix. I know the job I ended up with before I moved and did for 10 years they were looking for someone out of college. I was tossed in the position so I learned that way. You can go through all the schooling but that doesn't mean that is the way the company does it or does it mean you will be able to get them to take that route. So I think what would be good is if you were in the job and taking classes as well to help with the job.

I think that truthfully people need both. Experience is great and doing is the best teacher, but it is always important to have background information about why things are done a certain way. I think booksmart is overrated, but books exist for a reason. I would not trade my college degree although it hasnt panned out really well for me in the world at large.

I don't really know which would be better. although a lot of times when people are book smart they seem to be lacking in the common sense dept. I'm not really sure what the right answer is. I wish i knew lol.

it's important to have both, each have much to offer, but i have found that i have more to offer when i have had experience, it is easier to relate to people and issues when it is through experience
