ingratiating people

Please anybody please help me with a couple of questions. First, has anybody ever experienced visitors who drop in while you are busy or especially eating dinner and just don't have the practicality of knowing they should probably dismiss themselves and return later. This is how I was pretty much raised. (to return later) I am now forty years old and cling on to the same theories. Does it ever seem that somebody just ingratiates themselves upon you. I really hate telling people to leave. It doesn't seem right or very hospitable. I just think that people should exercise common sense.
