What do you know about starting rose or rhubarb seeds?

Recently I have been lucky enough to obtain some seeds for red roses and some seeds from a rhubarb plant that had gone to seed. I have heard you can plant these and they will successfully grow. I love rhubarb so I want to do this. I know some plants can be temperamental about where and how they are grown so I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice about how and when to start rose and rhubarb seeds.

Rhubarb is hard to start from seed, I'm sorry to say. Also, it may not grow true to the plant it came from. The best way to propagate rhubarb is from the root. Most plants need to be divided every few years anyway, so if you have a neighbor or friend who grows it, why not ask for a piece of the root next time they divide it? It takes about two years before you can use it after starting from root.

Actually I have heard that. I am going to try for the heck of it. Thanks. :)
