Yes but not just yet. According to the newest AMD roadmap the company will overhaul its socket architecture to support DDR3 by early 2010. Check this site to read the complete detail http://www.dailytech.com/Hello+AMD+Socket+G34/article12400.htm The trend now is not how fast our processors is but how many or as they so eloquently put it 'multi-core race'. The first of this processor 8-core 'Sao Paolo' described as "twin native-quadcore Shanghai processor" will debut late this year in socket AM3. So how will that impact us? Those who are looking at the direction of AMD, quad core will surely drop its price by that time and if you could delay your upgrade till then you'll save more and probably add the saving to your video or RAM. What do you think?

Hey there bro! That's great news. Good thing I haven't upgraded yet. I'm still with a measly Sempron with an almost excinct socket 754. Yeah, it seems they are having a hard time making them faster. They just combine them to make it efficient. That's good but it could be costly. Good for us though! Quad cores will be in mainstream. I hope to get one for around 2,000+ pesos. ahahaha. I really need it right now. I could then concentrate on the Video card and a bigger hard disk. Thanks for the info!

Your back! Hey we have the same board & processor. I've just check X4 9750 2.4Ghz Phenom today and its around $255(11.5T), but when X8 is available X4 probably would around $135(6T) for a mobo + X4 + DDR2. Applications by that time too would probably utilize the features of multi-processor and 64bit instructions.

ackk... That's very expensive. I was actually planning to buy just a dual core to upgrade this. It still works pretty fast but today's games won't even run on it. That would be a fine setup with the X4. Can't wait to upgrade. Hey ferdz, I'll be lightening it up by monday here on mylot. I would be around much. I'm gonna get my hands full starting monday at work. I'll drop by occasionally. See you around buddy!

That's like crazy! I mean in a cool sense. Though I really couldn't understand the techie details, all I could comprehend was that they just keep on developing and developing more better performing things for computers. Like, I'm already good with whatever I have at the moment and I know there are still higher graded pieces out there, then another batch of better performing specs are arriving? That would definitely make those quads go down and affordable.. as if I'm going to use applications that require me such processors.. then again, having one isn't a bad thing, who knows, a MircoSoft Word application would someday need a quad core for it to work

He he he. I was hoping no one would ask the details for I wont know where to pick it up or me. The quad-core we look up so much would finally be within our reach. I will definitely not play my tetris there.

Yes, we surely can stretch it much more for the right value for money specs. Thanks Saundyl and have a good weekend.
