Have you all noticed how there are so many posters here who will start a discussion and then never respond or enter into the acutal discussion after their initial post? Whenver I start a discussion I try my best to respond to everyone. Now, if its an old topic that was from four weeks ago or so I may not get back to it. But anything new I start I do my best to pop back in, read responses and answer them, if nothing else with a thank you. Why are so many people here starting discussions if they don't want to discuss it? Are they just in it for the money?

I agree. I find it almost rude to be ignored. 'My pearls of wisdom cast before swine' as it were. Ok, I know I don't always talk sense and my spelling could do with some correction, but to treat me like I don't exist! Well, that is the sort of thing I get from my wife all day!! I expect better things from Mylot members. haha

I make it a point when I first sign on to respond to most of the posts in the dicussions I have started. Then about 10 minutes down the line I end up getting sidetracked with an intresting discussion. I do think people should make some what of an effort ot respond to their own discussions.

Thats pretty much the way I feel. I mean I'm not gonna drive myself nuts over it, but I'm gonna do my best to get back to someone - just like I have with you here. :)

Hi Tess, I agree with you and will always enter into the discussions giving respones and even responding but on any additional comments too as that to me is what makes a real discussion. After a while if I have responded to someones discussions numerous times with no response back I stop responding and move into discussions where it is actually a two way thing and a real discussion. Usually if I know I have posted a topic but then off to work I will put in my post that I will get back to everybody but it may be the following day so they are aware it won't be immediate too as I'm not online. Ellie :D

Hi Tess I notice that a lot on MyLot. I'll spend my time posting a nice and informative response to a discussion, hoping to hear something back, but then...nothing It does get a bit irritating. I try to respond back to anyone who posts a respone to my discussions that I start. Now if I get a one liner or a smart alleck remark, I may not comment. I don't think they derserve one. Or if it is real old topic, I may not unless there is something really informative about the response, then I will. I have to admit there are quite a few here that are here just for the money. You can kind of pick them out but seeing a person post a discussion with just one line. They've really not put any thought into it or they haven't even answered their own question but they want other to. And they post like five new discussion within a short period of time. Have a great day, Char

Tess, I've read that somewhere that replying by just "thank you" or "good post" is not acceptable. That's why if I do respond or thank them for the response, I add a little meat to the response. Have a good evening, Char

Hi Char - Yes I'm the same way if its an old topic. I often won't make it back into the old ones to respond. But if I'm started the topic in the last day or two and get a response I'll say something at least. I also agree if its a smart @ss remark or they didn't bother with more than a couple words then I don't respond either. Did you know that its apparently some myLOT rule that we can't post a thank you? So some members are informing me....

Hi Tess....I would say i partially agree with you and i am part guilty of it.What actually happens is once i signed in to mylot i would start checking topics under my interest. As i go over i find some topics to respond with..one after another. And since i am a stay at home mom and have 2 kids-here i go again and a house to run....i don't have much time to stay long in the computer and go back to discussions i have started and comment.I usually do the comments during weekends or when i don't have the interest to respond-sometimes those days really comes.Good day!

Hi TessWhite I think that if someone has started a discussion and you have taken the time to post a comment then they should show you courtesy by responding. Like you say, even if it is just a simple thank you! Oh and by the way, I expect a response from you!! LOL

Right you are. I agree 100% with you. I have also seen many discussion responded but not noticed by whom it is started. When you say it as 'discussion' you must take part in the 'discussion'.

tess sometimes we want to but we cannot get to it so give us a break as we have other things to do too, and having to respond to forty three responses and cook a meal and do others things, sometimes something has to give. I try to do my best but sometimes I have to go back after several days to answer all the responses. and yes I do like to get money for what I do as wellk as enjoy my friends, as I am on social security with a small check so any additional funds is a big help to me.but I will get all my responses answered.I never dont respond I just dont always get to it on the same day or maybe two days after. I get so tired of these discussions scolding us for not dropping everything and responding the moment someone responds to us ,it is not always possible.

I don't believe I was scolding anyone for their delay in responding. Nor did I mention any names. What I was trying to express was those few mylotters who NEVER respond to any of their own discussions. I can think of several I've seen in the weeks I've been here. I myself don't get to every single response to say a thank you. But I do my best, as most of us here do. My issue was with the ones who have post after post after post and never enter into their own discussions.

You are right, a discussion is not just asking a question and not bothering to read what anyone replies to it. I like reading responses to my discussions and commenting on them, it makes the discussion more active and interactive, and it does better than any discussion with no comments. Anyone who doesn't comment on responses will not make much money at myLot because other users will stop responding to any of their discussions and those discussions have much less value than a good one with a lot of responses and comments on it.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. If someone makes a comment that requires an answer or something interesting that makes me want to say something back, I do. But if they just posted a simple agreement to my discussion, I usually don't say Thanks. Mylot asked us not to post Thank you's. I do want to make SOME money on mylot each day. If I only have 20 minutes today to be online, I'll be responding to other discussions, probably not answering my own.

hi there..i too try my very best to get back at every single discussion i have started. That's why I went on a "one week leave" from starting another post. I had to go back and comment on all those who have exerted their effort to respond. I didn't just wanna get it over with, so I could finish it asap, but I did read them all. With some responses I commented on what they have said and some I said thank you because I have nothing else to add. It's true that some doesn't even post a comment on their discussions, but I just think that they might have some reasons for not having commented. yeah, it won't be a discussion, if the one who started it will not even show up to say even just a simple "thank you"..

Since I don't start many discussions it is easy for me to respond plus I don't have many on my friends list that my discussions go out to. I can't speak for others but I have seen that some do have a lot of friends and I'm sure it is hard to go and reply to each and every one. I really don't see how anyone can be here just for the money, I am pretty sure there is no way enough could be made here in one week to live on. If so then please someone tell me how. hahaha

I'm afraid that you maybe right I have seen many start discussions and never reply back to the responders,I feel as you do most are just here for the money that they can earn and start a discussion with just one line or a few words.I always try to reply to others that respond to my posts or discussions it just being polite.

OK, Mylot rules say "DON'T Thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings." I respond to people who comment on a discussion ONLY if I have something of substance to add to that comment. If I don't respond to your comment it doesn't mean that I didn't read it, or that I didn't appreciate it. It simply means that you stated it so well that I have nothing to add to it.

Hi Tess, I'm very sorry. I know you mean me. I'm just getting the hang of it. There's just so much to remember. I'm just getting back to my disscussions, picking a best response, rating comments. It's hard when you first get started. I realized today that I don't have those little plus minus things next to me so I think that means I am forgetting to do that too. I got a yellow star with an 8 today. It went from white yesterday. It's the beginning of my second week. You have been 1 of the people who's discussions I look forward to. Please forgive me! Your are right about people responding to things just to respond, I know I don't do that!

Actually, no I didn't even realize you don't get back to yours. LOL So I didn't mean you. There are times when we aren't able to respond to everything. Oh, and the plus and minus thing is over to the right and is very easy to miss I think. Thanks for responding - but no I didn't mean you.

Hi,White.I think many people have noticed this problem.Someone come here only for money and they don't care what others say but only care the number of reply because it is related to their earning.I agree with you that we should respond others because we should respect others at least.Just a "THANK YOU" is enough so why we spend only several minutes to do it.It will let the responders feel happy and you will have the feeling, too.
