Food shopping while hungry...

I am guilty of doing this far too often! I usually end up with a bunch of junk food, that I would like to say doesn't get eaten, but it sure does! I bring my lunch to work and I'd prefer to make and bring sandwiches or leftovers, but it's so much easier to buy frozen pizza or frozen dinners and bring those. However, if I go food shopping right after I've eaten a big meal I don't buy enough because just looking at the food makes me think blah. I think the best time for me to go is right after getting off work at 4. I'm not quite hungry enough for dinner at that point and I haven't just eaten either. Anyone else guilty of grocery shopping while hungry? When is the best time for you to go food shopping?

that is totally true and i always do go shopping for dinner just when i am really hungry because thats when you are thinking of food and then grocery shopping lool Every time i do say next time i will go AFTER i have had something to eat lol Really best time be hour after you had dinner, but if you anything like me, by then you wanting to get settled for the evening and cant be bothered to go walk around shops with trolley lool Every time i am walking around the shop and my belly is getting louder and louder lool and naturally you going towards all the quick cooking foods I reckon we should eat a banana, or small sandwich, something quick and light before going to grocery shop lool then we may think with our heads not with our bellys lool

Good call lol, that's a good idea. And you're right, I always plan to be productive in the evenings, but I never get around to it. By then I just want to laze in front of the tv.

This is not good, I find that I tend to buy more quantities of something then what I really need when I shop hungry. I like to have a sncak or something before I go or sometimes I go on sundays after church with my sons and we have breakfast before hand. Unfortunatley I can't take them any more, every time I take them with me I find the cart to be twice as full as it usualy is.

Funny you mention that, because when I was younger I used to go food shopping with my parents all the time. They would let me pick out one treat, and everything else they picked out. Then my sister came along and she'd start throwing everything she wanted in the cart and they let her! Gotta love being the oldest :)

Going shopping when I'm hungry is BAD. It doesn't always mean that I buy extra stuff but it does mean I'm tempted, and usually what I'm tempted to buy is something that I can tear into right away, such as a bag of chips or a candy bar. I'm also more likely to give in to my daughter when she asks me if I'm hungry too. The best time for me to go shopping is after I have done an inventory of my pantry and fridge (and cleaned out the fridge), made a list of items I need to restock, and checked the flyers to see where I can get the majority of what I need as cheaply as possible. I also prefer to go in the morning, after breakfast but prior to lunchtime. In the late afternoon or after dinner, the stores are crowded and the lines are crazy and the last thing I want to do is be at the store for more than an hour because of a line.
