My picture is me. There are a lot of reasons people choose not to have their own picture as their default. They could be nervous about having complete strangers knowing exactly what they look like, they could be hiding something, they could be protecting themselves from stalkers or lunatics. Or, they could simply be private people who are more comfortable with anonymity. Lots of reasons, and the only important thing is that the person is comfortable with their choice. It doesn't bother me to have my own picture up, but if it bothers someone else to do the same, then there's no harm in them using something generic.

My picture is of me and my best friend. I don't think people using celebs photos is hurting any body so i see nothing wrong with it. Some people are just not comfortable with using a pic of themselves.

Yup, my picture is really me. Now granted, it is a picture from about 5 years ago, but it's still me! :)

A lot of people aren't comfortable revealing too much of themselves online. Others reveal too much, period!! My photo IS of me. It'd be a very sad day if someone tried to take advantage of me because of my photo, I think. I don't easily trust on a personal level, I tend to be cynical and suspicious if someone goes beyond mere conversation, and my comfort level online is far greater than my comfort level face to face. My insecurities come out in person. So, I'm not afraid to show my photo because I don't fear any problems because of it.

Unless the person is actually pretending to be the celebrity then I don't see where the celebrities would care if people are using their photo or not.
