We have eight biological grandchildren, and the youngest is about eight months old. I was pretty certain that there would be no more infants added to the family, since the two daughters have three kids each; the younger daughter has had her tubes tied and the older daughter's boyfriend has had a vasectomy. Our younger son and his wife have a son that is almost a year old, and she had her tubes tied because she is a high-risk pregnancy (she already has one other son). Our older son's long-time girlfriend has a daughter who is now 12 and she refuses to have any more kids. She and Older Son have been on-again, off-again lately. So Older Son came by yesterday and told us his new girlfriend of less than two months is pregnant! Long-Time Girlfriend is very upset, of course, but Older Son insists the relationship is over and he wants to do the right thing by New Girlfriend. It just figures! I gave the rest of the baby blankets, walker, etc to my girlfriend who has a 5-month-old nephew, a brand new granddaughter born earlier this month, and another grandbaby due this fall. So I guess I'll tell her to hang on to their outgrown infant stuff because we're going to be needing it again!

Wow! Look at it this way...baby shopping is extremely fun and now you have an excuse to do a little extra to replace whatever can't be used again after your friend's babies get don with them. It may even be a good thing. New girlfriend might be feeling really awkward since she's new and "kicked out" a long time family member (other girlfriend). Doing some shopping may help reinforce the fact that she and the baby are members of the family now and that you are all accepting this surprise.

Wow! That was quite a surprise for you. It is inconvenient that you have just given away all your baby stuff to other people. Then you found out that your older son's girlfriend this pregnant. I think that pregnancy is an exciting time when family members can enjoy going shopping. Some pregnant ladies decide to have a gender scan at 16 weeks plus then it is easier to go shopping, either for pink or blue clothes. Other pregnant ladies decide that their babies gender will be a surprise so it is better to buy clothes in yellow or white. My sister got rid of all her baby things then she had baby number three and then another few years later she had baby number four. It is wonderful for me to have two nephews and two nieces. Good luck and I hope all goes well.

AH....another new baby! You can do a little shopping now....and I bet your friend will be more then willing to recycyle them again! But isn't that just the way it goes....I guess when they say "never say never" it would really pertain to this situation! LOL.....
