If you find money - do you try to find the rightful owner?

If you're walking down the street and find money, do you look or ask around to see if the rightful owner is nearby - or do you just put it in your pocket and walk on?

If the rightful owner is around I will definitely give it back. If it's a huge amount of money or other things that are very important such as documents and stuff, I'll try to find the rightful owner. Give and you shall receive. Return, and you shall be blessed.

If it were a large amount of money, I would want to turn it over the police - it might be from a bank robbery or something and they might be watching for the serial numbers of the bills!

Usually if there are people around when I find it, I will try and locate the owner of it, if none can be found then I will keep it for myself. Now if there is no one around at the time I find money laying on the ground, I will just place it in my pocket and keep on going about my business. But I really don't have to worry about it to much, since I'm usually not lucky enough to find money just laying around the ground..lol!

Well it depends if there are no other people around then I pocket it and call it a blessing. If there are other people around and it looks like one of them could have dropped it I ask. Most of the time that I find money though it is where no one else is around.

Very often it is not possible to know who might have lost it - and if I don't pick it up someone else will. If I find something, I generally give it to charity.

I should be so lucky to find money worth searching for the owner about. Mostly I only spot the odd small change and can't even be bothered to pick it up myself. If it was more I would be suspicious it was Candid camera or something. There was once a program showing a person trying to hand out £5 notes and people are so suspicious these days they would not even accept them!! LOL My daughter did find a £10 note on the bus once and kept it. I am sure if she had seen who had dropped it she would have handed it back. I brought her up correctly!! LOL

I've never found anything major either, but I have lost money from my pocket before and when I looked for it, it was gone.

I dont really see how you can find the rightful owner when the money is stuck in a bush or blowing down the street. If you see someone drop the money that is another matter. In that case i'm sure I would give the rightful owner the money. It hasnt happend to me all that often.

Of course, it wouldn't always be possible, but I would want to at least look around to see if someone was searching of might be putting their wallet away or something that would indicate that they might have dropped it.
