Would you pay someone to do the things you didn't want to do?

I was discussing this with friends the other day, most of them have busy jobs and at times like christmas and birthdays they find it difficult to find time to buy prezzys and do all those things on their to do list. So i said wouldn't it be great if you could like hire someone per project like make my girlfriend a homemade gift? or find the perfect leaving present for a collegue or sort all those bits of things you never get time to do. Revise your cv or trawl through job sites, write covering letters, just all those things that you just don't want or have time to do. Would you pay for something like this? Do you know of anything like this thats already out there? I know there are companys that you can hire a PA for a day but they cost alot of money and i'm pretty sure they wouldn't make your girlfriend a keepsake gift. Were talking affordable for everyday people who just don't have the time are willing to pay but withing reason. What do you think?

If I had so much on my plate that I couldn't do everything by myself then I would. And that's only if I have a tight schedule. I don't really like having to rely on other people to get something done. However, I am usually the one people rely on, lol, and I don't mind that too often.

yeh i know what you mean i'm the same and i think thats why i'm a little unsure i'm used to being the one always sorting everything out not asking other people to do it for me.

If you don't enjoy doing something, or someone else could do it faster and better, then paying someone else to do it is a good idea. If you don't like mowing the lawn, and, if you worked for the same amount of time doing your own job, would earn more than paying someone else to do it would cost, it makes sense. Or if you'd rather spend the time with your family and friends, and could afford to do it.

Probably nowhere near as bad as mine. I still haven't got a new lawn mower after mine was written off in floods over a year ago. I'm not impressed with my insurance company.

Hi egdcltd thanks for your comment. I think it's the second part of your comment that applies to most of the people who ask me to do stuff now. They simply can't be bothered, don't have the time or skill set and would rather spend time with friends and family. Speaking of lawns i need someone to do mine it looks like a jungle lol.

I'm sure there are places out there that do this, and for a reasonable price. Heck, I would personally do these kind of things as I would find them enjoyable. I'm starting a few businesses of my own soon enough, maybe i'll add something like this into the mix. Thanks for the idea! I don't know though, I don't think I would pay anyone to personally do this for me. I prefer to be independent, depending on someone every now and then is good n' all but I would rather do these things on my own! I mean, with proper time management everyone has time to do these kind of things. Of course that's just me! And sorry. I don't know of any places like this, i'm sure if you ask around enough you could find one though!

Hi Louie thanks for the comment. I have found a couple of places that are similar but seem to be on a larger scale and hence more expensive costwise. I'm going to look into it a bit more i'm thinking the same as you that i might set something up. Like you i prefer to do it myself but as i said alot of friends prefer me to do it so i guess its down to the individual and whether you have those skills or not. Good luck with your businesses manda

Hi Mands, That sounds like a great idea in theory but I for one would like to choose or make my own presents. I would probably shop more online if time were limited though and get maybe the ironing or the housework done by someone I had paid so it would leave me more time to do all these little jobs, mind you saying that years ago when I was doing 12 hour days and trying to be a mum I used to employ someone to do my cleaning on a Friday and on a Thursday night used to race around tidying up for the cleaner LOL, so it didn't help that much really at all. Ellie :D

well i know a few people who have cleaning business and iron for a price etc so i plan to put those on there aswell. I was thinking about getting a cleaner just before i handed my notice and thought exactly the same thing i'd have to really clean up before i let her in and that was defeating the object so i know what you mean lol Seen as i have time on my hand at the moment i think i'll use a freebuild website so it isn't costing any money. If i don't get anything from it no harm no fowl just time and i've plenty of that so i suppose if i don't try i'll always wonder.

A relatives or neighbors is the best possible candidate. You can pay them to do the things you have no time doing. If you hire somebody on the net or agency it's pretty expensive.

what if you don't have someone to do it though? I do alot of projects for friends like keepsake books for birthdays and weddings and invitations and tshirts and looking for stuff online for them etc. I often do them for free although i am offered payment i was just wondering if that extended outside of my core circle and whether it was a service i could offer to make a little extra cash. I was planning to base it on a per project basis so that there was no set minimum fee.
