Hi dreamssri reading to me is like eating or sleeping i often have 2 or 2 books on the go. I usually have one in my bedroom thats a favourite one and one in the bathroom thats one that i'm ok with but not as excited about. Sometimes i'll have one downstairs aswell that i read while i'm waiting for someone or cooking. Thats usually one that i've been trying to read and just can't get into. I can read for quite a number of hours for the majority of books i usually finish them in 2 days. I don't sleep very well and find that getting up reading a couple of chapters (although it tends to be half the book) makes me worry less and become less frustrated about the fact that i'm missing sleep or need to be up in so many hours.

My reading record is when I got my new Stephen King book "It". I'm a huge Stephen King fan and was so excited for the book to come out. I went down to the bookstore and got one of the first copies available in our area. I started reading as soon as I got home, and I simply couldnt' put the book down it was so good and ended up reading the entire book in one shot. 22 hrs and 1,064 pages later I was done! That personal record has stood for about 20 yrs! There have been times when I got so caught up in a book that I've read all night and watched the sun come up. I can read for 8-10 hrs very easily. But my average is about 2 hrs at a time.

Years ago before I had four children to look after and love, I could read an entire book in one sitting. Then as the children started to arrive it would become less and less until after the birth of my fourth child time for reading just ceased to exist. Now, though she is older and the others are older and so I now get a bit of time where I can indulge in reading again. Unfortunately I cannot read for long periods of time anymore and so it is probably about 30 minutes at the most now.

I dont know the exact hour figure that I have read, but I can tell you some books that I have read basically non-stop. I read the fourth and fifth harry potter books in one sitting. I read the bible (the entire new and old testament) once in one go. That made me want to shoot myself. I read my entire history textbook before the final. I think those are the only really prolonged reading moments that come to mind.

i sat up last night with a good old mils and boon historical romance. got in to it and there was no stopping me. must have been reading for a least 4 hrs. all depends on the book and it is worth reading. i'm not even finished yet so will read more at breakfat time, no juciy bits yet either. i love reading, but can be picky on what kind of books i read. i love reading di morrisy books (aussis authur) have done since i was in my teens, won't put the book down with ease until finish it.

I can sit and read for 3 or 4 hours IF its a good book. If the book is boring i get restless and cant focus and i end up putting it down after 15 minutes to a half hour.

I could read continuously throughout the day, the most was (similar to someone else) was when reading the latest harry potter books and i had stayed up for almost a week catching a few hours sleep here and there... they were very addictive and a welcome distraction when i was 14. Now i have less time what with college and that but i could still read for hours on end =P.

While in service, i used to read for more than 18 hours, for preparation of lectures, even now i read for more than 6 hours daily, the habit i made from my school days.. Though i don't read continously, i take coffe or tea in between to avoid the feeling of tiredness lol.. Thank you so much. Professor. . Cheers God bless you. Welcome always.
