Is it worth a virus to you?

I was reading another discussion here, and I looked at the website for what he uses to make extra money. I read through it, everything seemed good. People seemed to really be making money. Then I read you have to install something on your computer that involved Java. That right there, was a red flag to me. Anything you need to install on your computer and do nothing else with means that it is malicious in some form. It is either Spyware or a Virus. So, I pulled up a Google search on the name of the site followed by virus. Sure enough, the first page I saw was full of people in technical support forums asking for help to remove a Trojan Horse, and they all had one common thing: the .exe file for this particular program. I saw some people who made $1,200 on there, but let me ask you - would it be worth it to you to know that you could make that much but know that it could completely destroy your computer? You may say that you can just go ahead and buy a new one with that kind of money, but what about your personal information? Sure, you could make $5 per day with this program, but in a couple of months you might see some money missing from your bank account! So my question to you is what would you do after finding so many things listed on a search engine that seem too close to being a virus? Would you still install it and hope for the best, or would you run scared?

No, it's not worth a virus to me and I wouldn't do it. I don't like those types of programs anyway. However, not everyone is as informed as you are about what would qualify as a "red flag". Also, they might not so a search to see if the site is safe or not. They should, but a lot of people don't.

I agree, they probably do not think to research it. I am in Marketing, and I use the computer a lot. Maybe I am just lucky enough to know those type of things. I had to pass the information on.

Hi Deemazing, It is not necessarily malicious code or a virus, but it can be used for such. Alot of technologies are using java Power, i.e cell phones. If you do not have Java installed you will be prompted to install it to run the application. You have done good research, I cannot stress how important it is to keep virus definitions up to date. Before dismissing anything, research, research, research! That is your best defense Good Luck to you and all you do. All the money in the world let alone 5 bucks a day is not worth my lifetime of savings. Sure people can relace the system for much less than 1200.00 bucks, but I agree waht about your personal info.

I do agree that it doesn't mean it is always going to be malicious, however, with this particular program you are running a second Java...one that is not installed with your computer. So, you are running 2 Java's at once, it causes conflict, and you run your virus program. After doing so, you find out that this program is infected, you try to uninstall, and next thing you know you are reformating your computer!

Hiya, yes you are correct, and ty for the BR. I can tell you do research. You see it is exactly like you say, you install a 2nd app, and have no clue what may be going on. Sometimes it does require a format, but not always... You seem very knowledgeable, you can figure it out, I mean no disrespect. You go.. take that knowledge and run with it, be the best you, that YOU can be. Keep aware, study, and protect yourselves before you need to! May I ask again, what is your job/career?

hi deemazing after having learned the hard way that anytime 'someone wants you to download free software to run dont look I now know that this free software carries with it a very malicious virus. it will destroy your computer so anytime someone sells you a get rich scheme involving downloading a free software hit the delete button at once. and any file that ends in exe in this kind of situation is another red flag warning for a really obnoxious virus download.

Very good to know! You should also know that these sites aren't really work at home sites, they are just some extra income that you can make after spending countless amounts of hours online. I could point you in the right direction of where to find some real ones, though, if you are interested.
