Do you have any 'handed down' through the family home remedies?

My mum used to put warmed olive oil on cotton wool just inside the ear to ease earache and clove oil on toothache. We had liquid paraffin for constipation and I drank an infusion of blackcurrant leaves to ease my bronchial asthma (tho I couldn't pick them myself as that triggered the wheezing). We put the milky sap from dandelions on warts and either vinegar or bicarb on stings... and I think rubbing a 'blue bag' was supposed to help them too. Do you have any to share?

I actually found a great remedy that works but it is nothing my family came up with. It is a well-known old wives' tale that using duct tape to remove warts is successful. Well I just want everyone to know that this REALLY WORKS!! All you have to do is stick some duct tape on the wart (i prefer pink), keep it on all day until you take a shower that night, take it off, file the wart down until its smooth with a disposable nail file. After that stick some more duct tape on the wart for overnight; change it again in the morning and repeat the process for 2 weeks. The wart should be gone in no time!

thanks for that one. Now I know what to do if any of us get a wart when dandelions are out of season!
