Can you imagine the world without money??

Say money didnt exist, that we didnt need it at all. How do you think the world would dbe different from now?? Do you think we could live with out money?? Money seems to be really important in this world, you cant do anything without it. You need it to go anywhere. To some people the value of money is important, others really count every penny and try to make it last. So what do you think the world would be like without money?? Would you want a world without mone or are you happy having money?? I mean we obviously need it to pay for things but say there was a way around that (I dont know what, I havent thought about that!!).

I read through this discussion and thought "don't be daft". Then I sat and thought for a minute and you know the thought of not having to worry about money (or lack of it) no mither, just peaceful days is actually quite nice. I mean basically in this life money is the root of everything, evil, stress, happiness, without it life is dull and sometimes miserable. 80% of peoples lives are just spent mithering and worrying about how they are going to pay their gas and electric bills. It would actually be quite nice.

It would be nice to try and live with out money but obviously in this world, its all about money. Money does cause problems and also happy times but it would be nice not to have to worry about money issues!! Thanks for replying.

Hello dear cinderella. Without money, it would be a hard world for us to live on, as everything we need in our daily life needs to be paid for by money. We are working hard to get every penny we can to fulfill our life to the fullest. We are trying to also save money for the future and we are trying to invest the rest of the money that we have to generate more money so that we can live a better and more decent life with decent money saved and earned. Life is not easy, yet we are working hard day in and day out to make enough earnings to make our life go on and on. But we must try to think of some clever ways of making some more money by good investment that is available to us or that we can afford to generate more money. Thank you for your discussion.

We are just working in a cycle though, we work, we get money, we pay/spend so there for we need to work. In the first discussion the person mentions how we used to trade things before we had money. Understandably that is like having money as you have to have things to trade for what you want. It would be nice to experience life without the meaning of money at all!!! Thanks for commenting.

The world used to survive without money but some smarties had to find a way to avoid working. Imagine paying so much tons of grains to purchase a house. The rich today with brains but no muscles would have to sleep under bridges. As far as getting a nice girl he would have to remain a virgin.

There hasn't always been money.... Before money people just traded... It was up to the two people trading what the value of the products would be... Money was made to give things a value... Personally I would rather have a world with no money... We have become so involved with money that yes it would be wierd to just get rid of it now.. but if it was never made at all would have been fine too... Money causes a lot if problems and if no body had it then there would be no money problems... We would have to resort to trading and if you aint got nothing to trade then its almost like not having any money... I do like money though lol I guess I got to since we do have it

I think trading would be too confusing without a common currency. Say someone wants to trade some chickens for something else, like say they want a knife. but maybe the knife maker doesn't want a chicken, maybe he wants some beans. then the guy trading chickens has to go find some beans or trade for them somewhere. I think money just makes it easy to trade, its a shortcut. You work for such an amount of money, and you get to trade it for things you want. I think we work better with money. It's just that instead of getting obsessed over it, you have to make it useful to yourself, and help out your life.

Apparently so but would you not want to see what the world would be like with out money?? Why do we need money?? Why should things have a value on them?? There must have been at one point where people didnt use money?? Money didnt just appear and people understand the meaning and value of it!! Why was money invented? It has just made people worry about paying bills or greedy!!

A long long long time ago, they didn't have money. they used what is called a bartering system. Basically people traded things for things. for example i'll trade you three chickens for one goat. you know stuff like that. some people believe that in the near future the bartering system will come back. I think its a good idea. People wouldn't be fighting over money. and there wouldn't be any debt.

I don't think we can live without money. Before using money as the medium of exchange, our ancestors bartered with one another. I don't think it would be efficient to look for people who need your products or services in order to "buy" whatever you need. Even without money, people will still steal from one another and try to get ahead of everyone. So we're all better off with money!

i like the comment #5! It's a reality since the world began...i think it's much better for us if there's no money anymore because people do some bad things like kidnapping, hold ups etc because of the money. If we do it in sharing and changing of goods from one another we will also have a good relationship to each other.

For me the world without money is better.. You get to exchange stuffs.. You dont need to save money to buy expensive stuffs.. all you have to do is to exchange the stuffs you have... "barter" that is what it is called if I am not mistaken... You could grow plants or fruits then exchange it to something you want or you need... thats easier...

I think this's a question about what you need most at what time. It's really hard to say money is completely good for us or bad for us.In some condition,it's not good for us.like gambling.

Hello. Well, money per se is really important in today's society. Almost everything - including water is for sale now...but there was a time when money did't exist, when trading or barter was the only method peope used for getting thing that they want. I just hope that there will come a time when money won't be a problem anymore hehehe

money, no money, world without money, no trade, sl - Indian money
Its very tough for me even to imagine a world without money because all nonsense acts like robbing, killing for money, bankrupt ( no bank would exist ),jealousy that the neighbour earns more money than us, poverty, no beggars can be found on the road ( as all would become beggar if no money exist lol) the above listed bad things will come to an end but the most good things will surely vanish from the people if they are not paid by some one yes all are rushing to office early morning in the cold/fost just to earn handful of money, if no money exist then the whole world will become sluggish!!!

If we can live without using money then it will be okay. But considering the fact that we can not live without money since it is always being used in most of the things we do, then it is not really okay. It is hard if money is not around if it is the major means of living.

People live without money , or very little money all over the world , and they do what they have to do , and that is sad . I wish money was not an issue and people could live in peace , and always have what they need . I wish that if you would destroy all oney that there would be peace on earth , but i think all hell would break lose .

basically money is just a medium that we use in exchange of all the commomodities we use and we eat.. if money doesnt exist, i think there is an alternative that would replace it.. in terms of our daily living, even if there is no money, we can still survive.. during our parents generation, money is not that important.. because at that time you can be able to plant more plants to eat, rice, corn, etc.. nowadays money is being valued because of its ability to get expensive things that cannot be found in our backyard.. basically money is just an alternative for us to live.. and sometimes it also serve as vices to people..

I think the world would be a far better place without money. It's depressing to read that some people call it impossible. Granted right now it would be, as the western nations would not want to lose the foothold they have on the rest of the world, defined by wealth. However, were our governments more evolved, 'truly' run by the people and not politicians willing to disgrace opponents to their own ends, they'd listen to this idea, but it would require good, selfless and open-minded people, such as some people who have posted here, much to my delight. In a world without money, co-operation would be the way of life. Competing companies would work together so make truly better products. People would do what they want to do for a living, not any old job just to make ends meet. I myself am a postgrad architecture student, and will be an architect for the rest of my life. This life of design and new ideas if exactly what I want to do with my life, and others would be able to do the same. "But what of those jobs no one really wants to do?", I hear you ask. Well, no one wants to do the washing up or take the rubbish out do they? My idea for this is a community service kind of scheme. Everyone could do one or two days per month at a given job other than their chosen occupation, doing something for the local or global community, or both, such as tidying up public areas, collecting bins, delivering mail. There will undoubtedly be people on this planet who like doing these things anyway so could do them for a living - you never know! Anyway, on a global scale, with no money, there would not be the problem of diseases not being researched properly due to lack of funding. No poverty. No hunger (or vastly reduced hunger, spread evenly throughout the world). The list goes on. All we need is a large international committee to coordinate everything, purely on the basis of how many people are in a country, and how much food, water, housing and other supplies one person needs, then just a simple multiplication to see which countries get what, and then supplies being mutually shipped globally. Doubtless there are some holes in my theories as I'm only in the early stages of my research, and I hope to incorporate this into some of my final architecture community-based work. Anyway, food for thought. Thanks for reading everyone.
