Watiching movie in theatre, its really a amazing, 2 things on that one is as you said a wide screen which gives the real pic maximise , a human on wide screen becomes 5 times big and digital sounds hits to heart and make us a beat. In india, now as like philip comes to US 3$ TO 5$ depends on which kind of theatre you go Still becoming costlier and the add ons like parking, a small snack , transport .....hup in total its huge atleast $7 per head

Well, here in the US, if you can see a movie for only $4, it is usually a second rate movie theater where they are playing movies there that are usually coming out, or just released on DVD as well. Most places around here in the Seattle area charge over $10 to see a movie anymore. That to me is CRAZY. I wonder how people continue to flock there and pay prices like this, and this does not begin to cover Popcorn, etc. either.

Dear friend, In India that too south India for new released movies it comes Rs.40-Rs.60-Rs.80 ($1 = Rs.40 to Rs. 50) for those other than reservations. If reservations it cost more than extra Rs.30. Hence if in dollar it comes around $1.00 -$1.25-$2.00. If reservation may be nearer to $0.90 is more to be given. This change occurred suddenly as those rise in price of papers, inks, films, other equipments, the labour and other elements related to movie making increased simultaneously the price of movie tickets also increased its rates.

That's what I am saying. Haven't seen any that were worth spending $10 to see when they come out on DVD for rent in only 2 months can I can pay half price and watch them in the comfort of my own home and eat whatever I want! And with most of movies these days so full of s*x and other related trash and massive voilence, I dont' think I've missed much!

We usually watch movie in the mall theater. There are three of us, my hubby, daughter and myself.I think we almost spend $25 for the three of us on the ticket only. Then we will have popcorn and soft drinks.I could say it is more expensive here i guess. We used to watch every friday but we are being frugal now and my hubby has no time.He is very busy on his business at this moment.

Movies are around $8 here so I never go to full price showings. I occasionally get free preview passes to see the film right before it's released to public. I also sometimes get gift cards. If I'm paying for a movie I usually go to the discount theaters that get the films later so it's only $1.50 admission. But really I rarely go to the theater anymore...I wait until they come out on DVD and get them free from the library or $1 movie rentals.

well the "dollar" theaters are considered second run...meaning they get films after the regular theaters do.

Our movies run around $8 to $10 if you are an adult and if you are a senior citizen, you may get them for a little less. I cannot find the exact price but we usually only go when there is a bargain or if we get a free pass -usually on either my husband or my birthday. Of course the birthday one gets in free. There are also days in the week where seeing the movie is cheaper, I believe here in Winnipeg it is Tuesday, but do not quote me on that. But even with that and the senior discount for me, we cannot afford to go to the movie more than twice a year and only if one of us can get in free. We usually wait for it to come out on the Movie Channel and on dvd.

A theater in Manila with that amount is one of the cheapest. At 120 php, you'll get to SM or Robinson's Cinemas while 150 to 200 at Rockwell. And at IMAX centers, you'll find yourself spending around 300 above, which depends on the film being played. Whenever I will date my wife, I carry around a thousand pesos but have to leave my credit card at home hehe. That would include the cinema fee, food and the gas for transpo.

I don't really mind the expenses, I'm after the fun and somehow it helps me free myself from work stress. So I can say that the money spent for cinemas is somehow worth it.

That is pretty cheap for a movie. Where I am, going to the movies with my wife, including popcorn, drinks and transportation, it could easily chalk up a bill of $50 or more! And that is for the both of us. The prices of the tickets vary through out the week. For Monday to Thursdays(before 5pm on Thursday), the price of a ticket is $7.50. From Thursdays 5pm to Friday before 5pm, the price of a ticket is $8.50. From Friday 5pm onwards, Saturday and Sunday, including public holidays, the price goes up to $9.50. Wow... $4.00 for a movie ticket. So shiok. The last time I paid for a ticket that pice was when I was still wearing a school uniform and mugging for exams.

ha ha ha ha ha... thanks for the best response. It is good that you are able to enjoy a good movie at affordable prices. Something that I can only reminisce about. Cannot imagine how often I would be going to the cinema if the price of a ticket is $4. Even at USD$4 it is still cheaper than the price I am paying now. Heh heh...

Well you have to also remember that if gasoline goes up, that means any product that isn't actually made & sold in that very building will go up as well! I don't really recall what a trip to the theatre cost's nowadays. It's been a while. I think just driving there costs more then the ticket though which has kind of reduced the amounts of time I go to theatre's lately! My guess is that gas is about $5-6+ just driving there, and about $4-$7+ for a ticket, plus I generally used to buy stuff there and since theatre stuff was generally expensive to begin with, I can only imagine how much it costs now! I would say at least about $4-$5 into that. I'm not sure that $13-$18+ for a trip to the theatre just to see one movie is worth it anymore, even if it is brand new!

well, if you're going to sum it up., the gas, food and the movie fee that will be a big amount.,Ü and what if you do have a date.,so that will be additional cost.,lol! good thing im a girl.., so i don't need to worry about the expenses.,cause usually when someone ask me to go out.,they always pay for everything! thanks for responding!

LOL it really is a bit pricey to watch a movie nowadays and including the cost for some snacks, watching a movie in a theater seems to be a hard choice. Given the option to rent or buy a DVD or just wait until its shown on some channel on TV does not make the choice any easier. But needless to say when the movie is that good I'm sure many people will still go to the theater. I know I would. LOL

About a decade back watching movies was pretty cheap in India. But now with all glitzy multiplexes opening up in India it has become pretty expensive affair and one cannot afford to go to the theatre very frequently or every week/ A normal ticket costs around Rupees 150= A little less than $3. So thats the rate of tickets out here.

I think it is outrageously expensive. I love seeing movies in theaters, but in my area of the US, movies are $9.50 each. And that's not the worst of it. You spend $4 on a bottle of water, another $5 on popcorn, etc. And, of course, they don't allow you to bring in your own snacks/drinks(Unless you sneak them in ). There are theaters that have cheaper movies for earlier show times, but even so it's just too much. Then if you have to pay someone to watch your kids, well, forget about it. I give up. I'll rent them from the public library and forego the big screen.
