Four years ago, I gained a lot of weight and I can't stand the sight of seeing myself in the mirror. Growing up, my built is really average. I didn't even gain a lot of weight when I became pregnant with my son. But when I became depressed, I turned to food. For me it was very comforting and I just love eating when watching t.v., reading or just by talking on the phone. Then I noticed that I was huge!!! It took me at least 3 months to gain 30 lbs. and another 3 months for the next 20 lbs. You see, being fat does not happen overnight. It is a bad habit after another that led me to be fat. I was devastated. At first, I did not do anything about it. I was in denial. Then came the time that most of clothes do not fit anymore and it really sucks! I was even ashame to go out and see my friends. I started not doing the things I did before. I always say that I am too tired to do this and that. Then one day I decided this is the day I refuse to be fat anymore. I take a 30 minute walk every morning, followed by pilates. I carefully plan what I eat (I eat 6 mini meals a day), and I move as much as I can. After 6-8 months I was back to my ideal weight and still feeling better since then. For anyone of you there struggling to lose weight, you have to decide now for your own sake.

It is so nice to hear of someone who lost weight the right way! It is true that exercise is necessary to build up your lean muscle mass so your body burns more calories all the time, and it is the only way to keep weight off permanently. Six small meals a day will help keep your blood suger from dropping and after a while of eating that way, you just don't get very hungry. You are right, first a decision has to be made. And anyone who has dieted in the past knows that DIETS DON'T WORK long term. There is no magic pill, potion, or machine. Nothing works without YOU.

That must be an eating disorder caused by stress-is it bulimia? Yeah, it makes you get consolation in food, in other conditions, it makes you go off food-so, get rid of the depression and do exactly what you are doing now, plan what you eat and do exercises!
