Inconsideration taken to a whole new levels!

The design of the flats where I live, we share one common rubbish chute. As such, all of us have to clear out trash on a daily basis. Bagging them and bring them out to the commons chute to dispose of them. I live at the corridor unit and the common chute is nearest to my home. Well, today, I was about to clear my daily trash as usual when I got a surprise when I reached the bin. Not a pleasant one as you would have expected. Some frigging idiot that is trying to stuff everything into the chute. It is common sense that if the box is too big, leave it by the side. The sweeper auntie will clear it in the morning when she makes her rounds. An unwritten rule that many flat dwellers have abide by! Now we see some frigging idiot pulling a stunt like this. Over stuffing the bin. As if it is all going to disappear into the chute magically over night! Now the rest of the units on the same floor cannot throw their trash! Have you ever encountered a scene like this before? What do you do?

I have fortunately not met this circumstance because I'm blessed to have bought a resale flat in a mature estate where the chute is in my kitchen hooray! It's so much more convenient and I can just throw my rubbish anytime i want, dressed in any attire I happen to be in at that time. And it's near the kitchen where most of the wet refuse needs to be emptied regularly. this person is really inconsiderate though. Perhaps he felt that leaving it outside would also be an eyesore and cause pollution? Smells? Maybe he thought the rubbish was organic and would slowly ease itself into the chute over time, due to the force of gravity or something haha.

Taking that your assumption is right, that leaving the refuse by the side would be an eyesore. But leaving the chute lid open is going to make things better? I mean, this jerk is like trying to stuff a square peg into a round hole! AND piling the trash on top of his big box is going to make the trash go down easier? Any one with enough cow sense will know that this is not the way trash should be disposed of. No? Sigh... I can only suspect that one of the newer family that shifted in is the culprit. Cos living here for so long, almost two years, I have never encountered this before with the other families on the same floor. Like I said, I am frustrated over this. And am wondering if it is appropriate to call a meeting with all the families on the same floor to discuss this so that it will not happen again.

Well, we will let things rest for now. If it happens again, then we will have to see how things got to be handled. Living in a flat for most of our lives, I would expect people to be more civil when it comes to things like this. I guess we still have a long way to go to become a gracious society. With black sheep like these, I guess, that way is going to be really, and I really mean, REALLY long way to go!

oh dear that's very inconsiderate of your neighbour. i always ensure my rubbish goes down the chute before i leave. if it doesn't fit into the chute, i'll just leave it by the side or bring it downstairs. thankfully none of my neighbours pulled that stunt before. however, those on my floor has another nasty habit. they'll bring their trash to the lift lobby and leave it there. sometimes, they'll go a step further and leave it in the lift. it's really annoying to see bags of trash when going to work.

At the very least, they bother to put it to the side. What annoys me are those who put the trash in the lift. I mean, you already took the effort to put the trash in the life, why not bring it down and remove it to the proper dumping place too? Especially if the trash is dusty or worst... durians. The smell will linger in the lift for days! The things people do for convenience. Making things easy for them, but trouble for others! Sigh...

that's a difficult way of taking care of your trashes everyday, right? i just hope you and the others will catch who is doing that kind of nasty thing everyday. get a grip of him / her and talk to the person. if not, atleast report this to the administrator of the building. atleast, the admin is supposed to do something about it. we live in a flat, too. but our common trash bin is outside the apartment building. 8 doors share these two big trash bins and we don't have problems with ours. i guess it's better since they are just located outside the building. better that way.

ha ha ha ha ha... like that is going to help. Going to the authorities will mean a lot of red tape and numerous trips to the office to give you account and stuff like that. I just hope that this fella will not do it again. It is really inconsiderate and selfish of him. Or her for that matter.

People are always amazing and it might be amazing because of their positive outlook and actions or amazing because of their stupidity or lack of concern for others. It does not have to happen to neighbors. Big companies and even the government do things that harm people. In many places there is too much pollution. Doing this harms all humanity as well as plants, animals and insects along with other microorganisms.

It is more the lack of concern for others. I mean, the chute is not in their home. So what do they care if the place is filthy or not? What they did not think is, everyone is living on the same floor. And sharing the same resources. I am sure this jerk would be the first to complain if the same was done by someone else. And then he will just dump his wet trash by the side or on the floor since he could not access the chute via the lid. Like I said, real idiots!
