I think going on those shows can help people to get discovered faster. The shows can be a sort of catalyst to their musical career, even if they don't win.

yeah, partly it makes sense as it is not only singing that one can be discovered with a talent. yet, these talent shows that concentrate on singing are faster way to discover those with potentials. but aside from that, there can also be some alternatives to that such as here in the Philippines, we have starstruck and star circle quest in which programs look for some people, particularly teenagers with versatile yet variable talents like dancing and acting as well. from the passed years that these trends started, we are on about almost ten years that these talents who were discovered then, now are the main casts of drama programs and happened to be most highly paid actors and actresses of our country.

Hi! I'm not really an avid viewer of any talent show, but I think it's okay for talent shows to continue being aired on TV. Some people might be disinterested in these shows but it actually gives opportunity for others who are aspiring to be what they want. It is better if a talent show actually screens their contestants thoroughly to see who will really shine and who deserves the spotlight.
