Is it just me, or are TV shows getting to be worse?

I mean, from when I was younger. Now a days there are so many reality TV shows taking over the air, and game shows and such. Gone are the days of Wild Kingdom, Jack Custoe, and the great shows that I watched growing up. Cartoons seem to be getting way out there too. Gone are the shows like Thunder Cats and G.I. Joe, replaced with things like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. Modern cartoons seem rather well... cutesie compared to old school cartoons, unless you move to something like the Simpsons. I just find myself watching less and less TV As a result of nothing must on. I mean, we get over 55 channels in our house, and I watch maybe 5 of them, because the others have nothing on them.

It just goes to show that I'm not getting too old or out of it because I live in Trinidad in the Caribbean. I'm 57 and have the same opinion as yourself right here in the Caribbean where I've lived all my life. I've never even travelled to the US. Its proof that the entire world is the same because all peoples are the same. And, yes, TV does seem to be dropping in output although I don't know the reason why.

I don't live in the US, but close enough as I get some US stations. I duno maybe TV watchers are getting dumber, and so are shows as a result. Who knows.

I hate reality TV, the point in watching TV is supposed to be an escape from reality! And you're right about cartoons, there are the cutesy ones, been the opposite end of the spectrum is the anime and stuff that's kind of violent and a little too adult for young kids. On the other hand there are some good things for young kids, like Nick Jr, and I think Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel shows are okay for older kids.

Don't get those channels around here. But I mean, it used to be cartoons had a good story and whatnot. Now I can't even follow half of them, or they're a rip off of something else, or they're a drag on series simply to make money. And some of them... Well, like DragonBall Z (Which I fail to see what's so great about it) they can literally spend a month on a single fight. Why? Because they spend every other episode doing things like 'powering up'. I don't know, but I think we're hitting extreams now a days with no middle grounds.
