my younger brother is a bit old to be told what to do. He is 26 yrs old and i believe that he is completely responsible for his actions. But i just cant help it! His smoking annoys my mom and his youngest son was recently diagnosed with asthma! As an older sister, i want him to stop.I tried talking to him, I tried threatening him and I even bribed him with a PSP or Wii... I dont know what else to do? suggestions anyone?

in all honesty hun there is nothing really that you can do, unless your brother actually wants to quit smoking himself nothing you say or do will shock or scare him into doing so just generall chat to him about it ask if he is worries about his health ect and find out that way if he wants to quit then he will need your support if not tho tell him you love him and will be there for him when he is ready to quit

thanks. im really starting to realize that after everything i did. maybe hearing it from other people will really make me stop bothering him and wait for him to be ready to quit all by himself.

There's nothing that you can do to motivate someone to quit smoking, the desire has to come from your brother. Talking, nagging, threatening and bribing will only cause a strain in your relationship with him. Your brother knows the facts and how his smoking effects those around him but, I'm sorry, he's not going to quit until he makes the decision to quit.
