What is the income limit or any other criterion that marks a person poor in your country?Does the Government sufficiently support and provide security provision to help the poor people in your area? What are the poverty alleviation schemes being implemented in your place?

I live in the US, and I do not think that the government support and provide enough to help the poor. If they did there would not be so many homeless people in the US. Lots of times people look at the poor or homeless as lazy people who do not want to do any better for themselves. But there are a lot of well educated people who find themselves homeless and it was not because they are lazy. The way the economy is these days, all it takes is the loss of one pay check and many people find themselves in a serious situation. I am scared for myself, I lost my job, and have not been able to find one yet. There are so many criteria in order to get public help. If you have $3000.00 in savings you are not eligible for help, $3000.00 is nothing and will not last very long. I spend almost $4500.00 per month on bills. I am bring in $1800.00 from unemployment, so I think that I qualify as poor, there is no way I can meet all of my financial responsibilities with that. I think $11,000.00 is classified as poor, the minimum wage is only $7.15 per hour, which equates to $14,872.00 per year. There is not much you can get on that. There are a lot of people in the US that do not make much money.
