How often do you use hair straighteners?

For a long time i resisted getting a pair of straighteners becuase i though my hair didn't need them and that they would only damage my hair anyway. However, sometimes i would wake up and have a bit of hair stuck out that just wouldn't lay flat even after wetting with water. So i got some straighteners to use for getting rid of those sticky out bits. However now i find myself using them every day, only for 10 mins in the morning and sometimes at night if i wash my hair and go out (usually i wash it last thing before bed hence the need to straighten in the morning) becuase my hair looks so much nicer straightened. So do you use them, how often do you use them?

I never use them. My hair is a slight bit damaged in the back, and I'm always worried if I got addicted to straightening my hair, it'd get even MORE damaged. Yikes. Not my cup of tea. Lol. I like my hair the way it is. Straight hair is so bland.

They can really damage your hair if you are not careful! I think straight hair is bland only if hair is all one length. Mine has differnt lengths and i straighten it so that it accentuates those different lengths.

Hi hezoid! I use my hair straighteners every time i wash y hair as it is naturallycrly but i don't like it! that mean t usualy gets straightened eery day, but it means i have to use loads of conditioners on my hair to stop it getting damaged, a lot of nights i sleep with conditioner in my hair in the hope that it will stop it getting too dry!! happy mylotting! xx

I use a lot more conditioner than i used to, in fact i switched to moisturising hair products instead of ones for normal hair. Have you tried olive oil on your hair? That is supposed to work well, as it mayonaise, but don't wash mayonaise out with warm water, only cold, becuase it has eggs in.

I use the 3 minute aussi miracle stuff too, it does smell lovely and works very well. I might use some tomorrow night actually!

I have never tried olive oil, but it is funny you should say that as I told someone else about it on a discussion the other day- great minds think alike!! I think I might have to give it a go as it's cheaper than other conditioners too! I like aussie three minute miracle conditioner, it works really well and smells lovely! I don't think i fancy putting mayonnaise in my hair though, it might smell a bit funky, and I am too much of a wimp to rinse my hair with cold water!! lol xx

Hi hezoid, I used it like twice a year. In our Country, it is very cheap to have it done in the salon so, I have my favorite place there who can help me and I know that after that I have to maintain conditioner everyday to avoid dryness...I am very satisfied with the result even if my hair will start to fall out..LOL! this time, I stopped since I can't afford going to salon here..LOL! Great thing is that my hair is still very straight, I am not curly but a little wavy!

I try not to use one every day because straighteners can cause so much damage to hair. I only use one about once a week and I condition my hair really well in between. My daughter has burned herself and her hair using a hair straightener so now she only straightens a couple of times and week.

I very rarely use hair straighteners or hairdryers on my hair as my hair is quite damaged through all the hair dye I use. I have to be really careful of how much heat it gets as it just dries it up completely. If I am going somewhere nice though I tend to straighten it a bit. Mine never stays straight though for very long, it has this awkward curl to it that just will not go.

I used to use them once a week, and would top up the odd curly bit now and then. However I have now ditched the straighteners and have embraced the natural curl in my hair. Now my hair doesn't feel as dry, and I hardly needed a trim at the hairdressers at my last trip. I found the straighteners would destroy the ends of the hair and I'd need at least an inch off the ends every seven weeks.

i used hair straightening once or twice a week. yes, it will damage your hair if y=use it often. I put olive oil for hair,, after taking a bath and when my hair is dry already I straightened it. It is very good when hair is a little bit oily because it will not damage my hair and it feels softer and nice looking.

I had a couple of hair straighteners, but got rid of them, I found them hard to us, especially in the back of my head. I also felt that it was pulling my hair out. I do not think the heat is really good for the hair. I only blow dry my hair sometimes, and that straightens it good enough.

Heat is not good for the hair at all, it's best to use a heat prodtecting spray or something idf you use heat a lot on it. Iv'e found blow drying makes mine more frizzy so i'd rather let it dry naturally then straighten becuase blow drying makes my har less straight if anything.

No, I don't use hair straighteners. I feel the heats causes the hair to dry out & might make it break off. Broken ends usually get frizzy & keeps your hair from looking as good as it could. Each person has to determine what is best for themselves. For me, I feel it is bad.

I use my straightener a few times a week. It is so hard on my hair that I try to go a few days without using it. I like the look of straight hair, but also like mixing up and doing different styles.

Well I myself am an African American woman and I wear my hair straightened. Since my pregnancy, I've been unable to use a chemical relaxer, which is ok...But of course my hair has become very coarse. lol. I can't use a hot comb because it's too much of a hassle. So, I have a flat iron that I've been using daily. It's a also a burden for me, but I don't really have a choice and I have to use mine for more than 10 min. When my hair is relaxed it's so luxurious...I miss those days.

I am constantly using my hair straightener. It is such a releif to know that I can pretty much do anything to my hair and it will stay. I do it straight and I can even put curls in it. I love it. I honestly don't know what I would do if I didn't have it. I could honestly say I would never go back to using normal methods like water and gels.

I use hair straighteners very often. I like the way they make my hair look. It looks less frizzy and more shiny when I use it. I usually put in product before I straighten to lessen the damage to my hair. I have long beautiful hair and I like showing it off.

Hair straighteners damaged my son's hair. The use of it became habitual for him for sometime because he has such a curly hair. But it damaged his hair a lot and the smell of his hair is that of a burned hair already. So he threw away the hair straightener and vowed never to use this again.

I do. But not all of the time. Luckily my hair has not been damage. I always use hair conditioners and have hot oil treatments when I feel like I really need it. We really have to take care of our hairs, it's our crowning glory! LOL.

My daughter got me hooked on using a hair straightener. I use it daily. I have really thick hair that has some natural wave to it so by using the straightener it lets my hair lay and not stick up all over the place. I also found that on hot humid days I have to use it to avoid the frizz effect that happens.
