My sister just had a c-section at 28 1/2 weeks on Thursday, August 7, 2008. And the baby was 2 lb 4 oz. Mama and baby are doing ok. Lil Jo, as we call the baby, is doing fine. She a real fighter, breathing on her own by the 2nd day of her life! She's just so tiny. I can't wait to hold her, but I know it's going to take time and patience. I think the smallest baby to survive was like almost 11 oz! So I'm not worried about her surviving. One of my best friends in high school was 1 lb 1oz when she was born. But I'm happy I'm once again an auntie. See how tiny the diaper is! It fits in the palm of my hand!!

Well CONGRATS!! And i will keep the baby in my prayers. You just have to keep your head up and faith that God has special plans for this precious child. Its good to know that the baby is doing good. As well as the mother. Congrats on becoming a aunt once again.

Wow, that really is small...I'm so glad she's doing well. We're all so fortunate that there is such great neonatal care in this country to help the tiniest of babies to survive. I wish your sister and her new baby all the best!

I'm also glad that the neonatal care is good in this country. It's even better now because my sister developed the same condition 2000 which caused an emergency c-section also. She was only 25 weeks then, and the baby weighed 14 oz. Unfortunately, the baby didn't make it then. But we are fortunate now to have better staff and equipment on board now. **smile** Thanks for the response.
